Chaps, I’m actually on vacation in North Carolina, and I’ve been shocked at the rampant availability of snuff in the American south. I’m from Ohio, where snuff is incredibly rare and the selection very limited- in NC, I walked into a grocery store and saw a whole shelf of sweet scotches!!! Needless to say I was elated and dropped a ton of money on snuff. Just wanted to share my news hahaha.

O

@Jackie_Bones Where in Ohio are you from? I can find a few scotches in my area at a few places. Of course I live right along river across from West Virginia.

S

The south has its ups and downs. Wouldn’t want to live there.

H

I love living in the South. I was born up north but I’ve lived here since I was five, and minus two years in Buffalo.

M

I heard a saying once, I don’t remember exactly how it goes but it was something like… In Florida, the further north you go, the more southern it becomes… I live pretty far south geographically but I don’t really think the Miami area is very “southern”

D

I live in nc, but was born in nj. You get used to the summer heat, and there are problems, but snuff is easy to find and I can ride my motorcycle year round. Sounds like heaven to me… Ken

I need to look for a property in the south. Pa. is the land of high taxes. plus the limited amount of funds I will have will stretch farther in my elder years. I will drive the truck with my tobacco collection; don’t need it getting misplaced.

S

Man it must be nice to walk into a store and see shelves of snuff for sale… ~X(

In NC the best bet is pretty much Food Lion. It is usually at the bottom shelf behind the tobacco register below all the dip and near the chew. Usually a good selection in bulk and 1.15oz tubes. Each store has a slightly different selection. Also a lot of the tobacco shops will carry it as well. This is a tobacco state so just about anything can be found tobacco wise here. Ken

In Wilmington NC I was able to find scotches at Food Lion, Loews, and a few Harris Teeter’s.

G

In Dallas I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Just dippin snuff

H

MiamiMark hit the nail on the head about the further North in Fl the more Southern. Here in the panhandle we affectionately call it LA, which stands for Lower Alabama. One trip to a Piggly Wiggly or IGA and you could buy a lifetimes worth of American scotches, I wouldn’t be so jealous my Yankee friends!

M

Reminds me when i was in California, someone told me they lived in Washington, AC (as opposed to DC)… Above California.

How much do the small tubs cost in NC?

D

I think in the Food Lion the other day it was around $4 for the little ones, the big ones were like $10 or a bit less. What I saw they had in stock was: Bruton Society Dental Tube Rose Honeybee Peach and there was two or three others I could not identify. Also locally I have found Navy sweet, RR Mills Sweet and Plain, and Rooster. Ken

X

Ok not much cheaper than here. I’m not making a special trip.

D

Where are you from?

X

Delaware. Here, the smalls are roughly $4.00 and change, but occasionally less than 4. The larges are about $11 or $12.

D

You also have the advantage of no sales tax in DE.
