There’s nothing quite like a fresh tin, but I hate when I have that moment where I have to close it because in that moment I know that some of my new snuff is going to spill out no matter what. You run into this situation with every kind of new tin: there’s that little cloud of snuff that poofs out when you close it or there will be some that gets spilled over the edge when you press the lid back down, etc. Then it just collects on my desk and stares at me until, with a sigh, I sweep it up with my hands as best I can and try to get it in my nose or, if nobody will catch me, I pull out a business card to make a little line of it (looking very suspicious as I do) and try and snort that. Is there a better trick out there to eliminating this problem?
Why not just decant it into a jar? That’s what I did and as long as I don’t just drop the lid I don’t see any and I take it over a white sink. I don’t even want to guess what the wife would say if she noticed some anywhere.
I always fold a piece of paper in half then open it, open the tin over paper then decant it or not, The folded paper makes an easy save and gravity flow it back into your stash.

I second this. Always open the tin on a decent sized piece of paper, pre-folded helps. Then decant and anything spilled is easily put in the same container
