I finally made the snus plunge (again?)

D

Years ago I bought a sampler of snus from an online retailer (can’t remember who) and I just HATED the flavor. So, I kept smoking. I found snuff, which I really enjoy, and I noticed that my appreciation of scents has been refined since I started using it. I rolled my way into American snus and found it was delicious, but it was about the most worthless thing I have ever tried in terms or nicotine content. Dip has great nic but the juice and carcinogens, made me an infrequent user. So, still trying to get off the cigs, I decided to try snus again, but made some completely different choices on flavors this time. My entire order is mint. Why? I love mint Skoal and American snus flavoring. I’m sitting here with a pinch of Thunder frosted in my lip (less quantity than dip) and I must say that I’m completely in love with it. I’m a little more than 1/2 an hour into the experience and it’s wonderful. A good amount of nic, nice flavor (even though it’s different), and it doesn’t slide around like a lip (upper or lower) of dip does. This combined with snuff may be what finally gets me off the smokes. =D

congrats on finding some snus and working your way off smokes. definitely the combination of snus and snuff will help you fight off the cig craving.

Stark snus killed a 25 year cigarette habit for me in 3 days. I’ve almost completely weaned myself down to regular strength snus and have greatly increased my snuff intake. This has taken me a little over a year. My goal is to get off the snus eventually but I’m in no great hurry. The Thunder Frosted loose is one that I have been using almost since day 1 and is my favourite flavoured snus. It really kills the nic cravings. If you are looking to try something a little plainer tasting I really like Skruf Stark loose. The Skruf stark/extra stark portions are good too and strong enough to control the cravings. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Hopefully snus will turn into an exciting journey like snuff has. I can really feel the cig cessation kicking in already. I had a bit of los in in for an hour, and now I have a portion hanging out, and I have no desire to smoke at all. By this time on a normal day I would have had 2 - 3 smokes, and would be jonesing for my smokes on the way to lunch and back. The can of RAW in my bag kinda scares me though.

I enjoy the act of smoking so I pick up the pipe. I try only smoking tobaccos that are rich in flavor and hard to inhale. My lungs feel better now, I sometimes inhale and pay the next day but I have no cravings; with snuff, snus and dip. I use snuff the most, dip or snus 2-3x daily and a pipe when I have time 3-10 daily. There is the physical addiction and the psychological addiction, Snuff takes care of the first and the pipe the latter.

ive been craving snus all this week but am all out and can’t afford any until January.

D

Oh no! Being out of things you love really sucks. Please tell me you’re not out of tobacco entirely.

Good man, snus is what eventually got me off cigarettes completely, i still smoke the odd pipe but not too often. Swedish snus is amazing and changed my life. I agree with @crullers RE Skruf, all skruf is amazing though.

Snuff got me off the cigs, snus started me down the path. I needed both to completely quit though. I smoke a pipe because I enjoy the smell of burning tobacco. My nicotine needs are covered with smokeless, but smoke helps calm/relax me. Pipe tobacco smells so much better than cigs.

Also an ex-smoker snus fan. I’m down to mini whites now, although the Thunders are a pleasant memory. It does seem a shame that Swedish snus is still relatively hard to get.

got plenty of snuff, but do like snus too
