I woodcarve now and again. So I tried my hand at carving a snuff spoon from some Zebrawood. It’s my first one, so I kept it simple… Mark

Cool! What kind of tools were involved in shaping and smoothing it?

M

A saw, then a dremel, then about 2 hours of sanding by hand with finer and finer sandpaper. I don’t know why, but sanding is relaxing to me. Mark

I’m sure you know this already but whenever you are making utensils or working with exotic woods don’t forget to check up on the toxicity because many of the beautiful woods are poisonous to work with or eat from, etc.

Very nice work btw. I’d love to have a few of those for taking toasts with.

M

Yep. I’m especially cautious with the oily woods. And eye protection of course. Only get so many eyes to work with this is life.

M

I have a whole collection of various types of woods. So we’ll see what I come up with. Mark
