I’ve got a pot of this lovely snuff but despite storing it according to instructions it ain’t half dry. It’s still got a great flavour but the dryness is causing me some nose and throat issues (however carefully I take it) which put me off taking it, which is a shame. I think this is caused but it being quite a coarse and uneven grind but bone dry. Can snuff be slightly re-hydrated? If so, how best to accomplish this with a test amount to start with? Thanks guys, and merry Christmas from the UK.
I usually rehydrate very dry and fine snuff that I find challenging to take. I pour some water (some people swear by distilled water, which is probably a better option if you’re rehydrating larger amounts of snuff) and pour it into an airtight plastic food container just so it covers the bottom. Then I take a small tray and put it into the container and put the snuff tin on the tray, cover the container and check it every few hours. Rehydration can take up to a few days, depending on your desired amount of moisture, dryness of the snuff and the amount of it. Stir it every few hours and be careful as the condense can build up on the lid, eventually it will start dripping and you don’t want drops of water directly in your snuff. There are hundreds of ways to rehydrate snuff, this is just how I do it.
Thanks @Jernej I will give that approach a try first and let you know how it goes.
What I do is fill a small (like an on flight) atomizer with distilled water and spray a fine mist over the snuff, mix in and spray more if needed. Always works.
I think I read that @basement_shaman used oranges. Maybe some one else.
@Igglet I only use the outside color. thinnest slices with a vegetable peeler. If you have fresh flavorful fruit it will add moisture and flavor; Only hydrate in small amounts Remove skins after one day. Works well with most citrus[lemons, limes, tangerines, oranges, grapefruits, etc]
Damn. I just wanted them to stick two whole orange halves into 50gs of snuff.

Just to report back on this, it did work to an extent but I’m very intrigued by the oranges idea, and on this snuff in particular.
