I am looking for a way to hydrate snuff in fairly large quantities,1 kg (2 lbs) at a time. A few thoughts: Spray bottle (mist) and tossing (like tossed salad) is one option. I’m concerned that it will promote clumping. I’m also concerned that it would make a royal mess. Spread out on an oven sheet with some sort of plastic cover and a moisture source… maybe an ultrasonic humidifier blowing water vapor in. With snuff spread out over a large area I’m hoping water absorption would be fairly even. Oven sheet, spray bottle (mist) and no tossing? Not sure if there other options. I looked at commercial kitchen stuff, like for steaming hamburger rolls or vegetables. Most of them use screens or baskets with holes far too large. Snuff would just fall through into the water.
I prefer the salad tossing.
@xapken … if you place on an oven sheet … maybe to set it somewhere in the bath room, turn on shower to hot, and allow the steam in there to permeate? less direct, i suppose … but seeing moisture accumulate on the bathroom mirror leads me to believe that it would evenly settle on the snuff. and … @transistor … too funny.
Not sure the lady of the house would take well to the bathroom, but yes… indirect seems the most likely to distribute evenly. Almost like a morning dew.
Thank-you Sir. You gave me the clue that I’ve been looking for… humidor. I knew they use them for cigars, but never thought about snuff. Off to go check them out “clean small alloy tin” *grin*
Too complicated for me, Roderick. I just use a rubber band to suspend a piece of damp paper towel above the snuff.
