Hi I have just purchased some NORMAL SIZE Humidor Acrylpolymer Humidifier Crystals from ebay to use when hydrating my homemade snuff, and to rehydrate any snus/snuff that have dried out a little. I’ve used them in humidors. I think you’ll find 70% RH a little low for rehydrating snuff, but a search here will provide many useful methods. As far as water; distilled is generally used to avoid primarily mold spores, but also calcification over time. You should be just fine using boiled water.
