I was wondering on average, how many times do you sneeze when snuffing, and do you always blow your nose after or leave the snuff in and if you do clear your nose, how long after taking snuff do you wait to do so? what kinds of snuff dont make you sneeze or do they all do to some degree? And, what kinds are more likely to make you sneeze - dry or moist? Fine or coarse? Is it just a matter of getting used to a certain snuff or what? To be honest, I’m so new to snuff, I only own one tin of Gawith Apricot as I’m sure you all read about in my other post, but it makes me so stuffed up. When I first tried it, I couldn’t hold it in there due to the sneezing fits, but now (maybe I’ve just developed a technique) it doesn’t make me AS sneezy but DOES still cause congestion. I’ve ordered some SP’s and toasts - will I expect the same sneeze attacks from them too? I hope not.
From what I can gather, there are no ‘rules’ about blowing ones nose and such like, really - snuff users find that different snuffs affect them differently. Personally I use menthols a lot, and they suit me - whereas some peeps, even those with way more experience than me snuff-wise, will still react badly to a menthol snuff and instantly become congested and whatnot. On average, I probably blow my nose two or three times a day, and I love Gawith Apricot that you mentioned. Some peeps find that finer snuffs are less of a problem. Different strokes for different folks?
Snuff never makes me sneeze. As to blowing, it depends on the type of snuff. Moist snuffs require blowing within a few minutes of snuffing. Dryer snuffs, I can go hours at a time. It also depends on the quantity snuffed. The more you snuff at a time, the sooner you will need to blow.
blow your nose like you normaly do when you feel like it. Your nose will get used to snuff after a while. Mine certainly has,
^^^ What bob said. +1
I haven’t snuffed very long or much at all, but I sneeze maybe half the time with my all day snuff variety, sun kohinoor, and always with my other favorites (schmalzlers). With the schmalzlers, I have to blow my nose within a couple minutes, then keep doing it for like the next 5, hehe. With other snuff, I usually don’t need to blow, but I use a neti pot at the end of the day.
I blow my nose (and sneeze) when I should have had a snuff but did not… LOL… I do blow my nose BEFORE a snuff. I find this moistens the right parts for me. If I were to give advise on nose blowing I would say to blow lightly to clear the drip only then brush to clean the exposed brownness. The goal is to have tangible boogers to pick at your convenience.
I seldom sneeze anymore, and honestly I can’t reliably blame the snuff as when I sneeze it’s generally minutes after I use snuff. So it may just be something that would have made me sneeze without the snuff. As for blowing my nose, courser snuffs seem to cause more mucous production for me. Some snuffs I’ll have to blow after a few minutes, some I can go all day without ever touching my hankie.
Never to both, happy with my SPs
Not many snuffs make me sneeze. Just received some neftobak recently and it makes me sneeze like crazy for some odd reason. May be my technique.
You’ll probably blow your nose a lot when you first are starting out. Once you get your technique down, you may not want/need to blow your nose so much. Like I said in a few posts ago, Poschl has been the only snuff that has ever made me sneeze. Once you get more snuff, I’m sure you’ll have a much better experience. I’ve heard on here that Poschl does that to some people. Anyways, it just takes time and practice.
Thanks everyone, some very good tips and advice given. I look forward to getting my order in. Hope it’s here by Friday and I’ll let you all know how it goes!
I blow my nose as needed. I would never blow it if it never started bothering me or running. Sometimes when my nose is misbehaving I blow every couple of minutes since I refuse to go without snuff in my nose at all times.
Good Point!!
