Maybe it has another term round these parts, but I’ll try to put the question in context. My favourite snuffs tend to be those of a medium/coarse grind, and when sat relaxing in front of the PC of an evening (net/forums/DVDs) and snuffing away merrily on those, my nose feels like it’s had a meal, and that has become part of the experience. It’s not ram packed full, and I can still breathe freely, but I am conscious of the amount of tobacco in my face. Sometimes a good noseful will last for a good half hour or so, other times it’s a few minutes, then evac and reload - which is more suited to “evening” use for me At work or when active, I tend to like less of a “full” feeling in my nose, and tend to either go for more of a standard Toque/WoS grind, or use smaller pinches - partly for practicality too, as less tobacco in the face is less likely to run or need blowing should a visitor etc appear. On the occasions when I get a fine grind in there without choking myself, my nose feels “empty” as though I haven’t been snuffing, and part of me feels like I haven’t done it yet … not sure that makes sense. How much is the feel of snuff in your nose part of your snuffing experience, and does it affect you preferences for different snuffs at different times?

It is probably half of the experience for me. A snuff can smell great but if I don’t like the grind or moisture I won’t use it. Molen’s snuff is a good personal example since I love the scents but the grind makes it impossible for me to fully enjoy. Ideally I like a fine grind and a medium-high moisture level, preferably oiled.

:-? I just try to balance my constant flow of nicotine. I sometimes get discomfort in sharp grind tobacco like Harlequin explained. I use a lot of fine dry grinds so my nose rarely feel full. unlike the days I use to shovel schmalzler in my face. I been using massive amounts of St Casura recently with no discomfort. So all said I have little to no problem enjoying most snuff. I never gave this subject much thought. The nose knows best. I soon forget if I had just used snuff or I am about to, no matter it is all good. A strong scented snuff can linger longer but most of the fine snuffs it is short lived. Now Bohica that snuff is not easily forgotten, nor is Doolali Tap, Firedrac and Wos Chili Chocolate best used in solitude with plenty of snot rags. the desert snuff of wow, temptation and blast are very soft and the scent is satisfying just the nicotine is absent. The whites, scotches and toasts cover the nicotine but the scent is subtle. So the mad scientist has to come out and mix up a batch of a combo of all the best attributes each snuff has to offer.

I’m not quite sure. I might not be packing my nose full enough / might be cleaning it out too often - to really know what you mean here. Or maybe I do, just that I dont think about it. Its when I sit down during the evenings that my snuff use really gets shifted into high nicotine satisfaction gear. The only factors I really notice are the flavor in my nose and the satisfaction in my soul - or so it feels…

It is possible that this is something that I notice more due to the quirks of my nose. Being unable to accomodate any fine snuffs unless congested (and even then only in small quantities) may be related to me being so conscious of other snuffs in my nose. Possibly two symptoms of the same underlying factors :-? At least one of the two is enjoyable
