How Many Take Snuff & No Other Tobacco?

I’m working my way off of cigarettes, but not quite there yet. I will smoke a pipe intermittantly. How many of you relish all forms (chew, snus, cigs, cigars,  pipes, snuff) and - impoirtantly - how many use snuff and no others? if you use snuff exclusively, did you start on snuff, or how long until snuff became your sole pastime for nicotine

I don’t know how close this is to what you’re looking for, but I’m also an ex-smoker. I didn’t kick cigs with snuff, but with snus. I experimented a bit with both (and vaping, but it wasn’t for me) and in the end I was able to give them up with snus. I still use snuff regularly, but it’s more for fun and unigue experiences/sensations, like how most enjoy a fine cigar, but snus is the meat & potatoes that keeps the vitamin N flowing for me.

I used to smoke, but not so much. When I started to consider myself “addicted”, just before taking up snuff, I smoked about a pack daily. I reduced my daily cigarette count  with the help of snuff (and left it completely when I discovered High Dry Toast and Viking Dark), tough I occasionally relapse to a couple cigarettes daily, specially when devoid of my favourite snuffs.
I also smoke the rare cigar or pipe, but the main nicotine source for me is snuff (Viking Dark, specifically).

I don’t use snuff exclusively but it’s probably about 90% of my tobacco use now. Like @Shavasana I kicked the cigarettes with snus. If you’re looking to quit cigs entirely I recommend it to supply enough nicotine as you deal with breaking the habit aspect of cigarettes. After a couple of years using both snus and snuff I began to snuff more and snus less. Now I only keep snus around for it’s convenience (long meetings, travel etc.). I’ve since taken up the pipe and enjoy 1 - 3 bowls a day.

I have never been a true smoker. Tried a cigar sparingly and some pipes during winters, but that was some years ago. Also had some periods of only “Makla”, until it ceased to feel so good. Not so long ago i started using snuff, and today I have to say that I have become an addict. I started using several sorts, but soon or late I am afraid that you keep using as your daily diet those few ( or only one) that give you the nicotine rush you crave, and use the rest more sparingly

Most of my relatives smoked, so I grew up around cigarettes.  Tried one as a teen but found the taste quite  rancid.  I lived some of my teen years in Texas and many friends there used moist snuff / dip.  Tried it and became nauseous immediately, so that ended that experiment.   Many years later (mid 90’s) another friend introduced me to cigars.   Really liked the flavors and I’ve enjoyed them since.   I also picked up a fondness for pipe tobacco along the way.   My frequency has been very moderate though - maybe 4-5 times per week at most.  During the hot summer months I smoke much less since I generally smoke outside.   My tolerance for nicotine is also moderate.

Since discovering nasal snuff earlier this year, I find I’m almost an exclusive snuff user.  My wife prefers snuff as she never cared for the lingering odor I carried around after smoking.   I also like the fact that I can enjoy snuff anywhere and not be concerned about restrictions or negative looks / comments.    (California is very tobacco-unfriendly.)   I have lots of cigars and pipe tobacco remaining in the stash so I’ll likely still partake on occasion.

Good luck with the smoking, smasty.  I’ve been a chewer for 15 years, and at the same time I decided I don’t want to dip anymore, I made my first snuff purchase (fairly recently).  I’m going to make my first attempt at quitting the dip once I finish my can, with the idea that i’ll just snuff and snus.  If I hang out on this forum long enough though, I’m probably going to have to give pipe tobacco a try, which i’d have no problem with.

By the title I thought this was a snuff only post ,Glad I read it I don’t feel like a nicotine fiend as much. I start with snuff 1970 levi garret big brown bottle. later that year cigars and small cigars just OTC. i also started chewing tobacco .red man, beechnut,Apple plug. Then pick up the pipe, half & half,prince albert ect.then I started with the ryo : bugler,tops ,zigzag, kite.Then on to belair,salem,newport.marlboro,winston’s,benson & hedges and some other regular smokes. I quit smoking for three years. Then it was back to RYO drum ,American spirit. Then I started snuff again when the interweb came; cut back on smoking with coltsfoot & mullein herbs and picked up the pipe again so many great tobaccos to try. I never quit smoking I will have one or two a month. I didn’t snus until I joined snuffhouse. I will have a premium cigar a few times a month but they are out of reach for my pocket. I smoke Pipes cutting down to 6 a day. I use snuff a few time an hour. I dip a few times a day and use snus a few times a day. By weight snuff is my least consumption. I had gone months without any tobacco. So it is more of a pass time than an addiction I must feed.Tobacco is good for your brain and I need all the help I can get. 8-}

I used to smoke, then for awhile I smoked and snuffed. It was when I got into vaping I actually went off cigarettes, now snuff is the only tobaccy I use but I still vape.

I’m pretty much the same as @Bender. Smoked most of my life on and off. Snuff was always there, but not my main source of Vit N. (The periods when I gave up smoking I also gave up snuff). Then I went on to vaping for a couple of years, but found it too fiddly in the end, so snuff won out. Now it’s just snuff (copious amounts I have to say!) and I find myself wishing I’d made the jump years and years ago! I find snuff more rewarding than ever before now it is my sole source! I can understand why Europe was so obsessed with it for 3 centuries (mutates mutandi)

I used to smoke but gave it up, now im using snuff and might consider trying chew.

Fascinating! Thank you all!

I used to smoke cigarettes, started snuffing and smoking, then started snusing and now im primarily snus. i will occasionally snuff or dip, less occasionally smoke a pipe or cigar, and even less occasionally smoke a good cigarette.

I rolled my own cigarettes, using the highest quality tobacco that I could get, usually Bali or Stokebye. Off an on using chewing tobacco and dip. Then, on June 17 2012 I quit smoking, using the POS ecig. 18 months ago I discovered Mrsnuff… Then, about 14 months ago I quit the POS ecigs, and stared chewing pretty heavily, it all started with that god damned wonderful camel shit smelling Makla… and using lots of snuff. Then one day just decided that the chewing tobacco was a friggin mess… So, for a little over a year I have been 100% snuff only.  Satisfied with my addiction. But I have used snuff lightly since 1996.

Quit 17 year 2 pack a day habit through chew, then got tired and switched to dip, then switched to snus. Gums started to reject my habit so I switched to vaping which I use more than snuff but that’s only because I’m out until my snuffhouse order comes in, then it’s abou 60% snuff usage and e cig in the morning and afternoon. I smoke a pipe once or twice a month when I meet up with some friends at the pub. But starting to think to switch 100% to snuff, cut any form of combustion /vape out of my life. Why smoke when you can snuff!

Awhile ago, I stopped smoking and more recently (within nine weeks or so) stopped dipping and now I get all my nicotine from snuff.  I really didn’t plan on quitting dip but it just tapered off a little at a time until I just stopped carrying a can with me, and I haven’t really been tempted to buy a can in that time so I suppose it will stick.

Works for me though, I will be able to justify a wider variety of snuff with the boss lady easier.

Stopped all tobacco use entirely about 12 years ago. Reintroduced snuff gradually about 5 years ago. Determined to stay off anything that involves setting fire to the stuff - which is much easier in the UK these days as you can’t smoke anywhere and can’t buy any decent cigarettes anyway…

Quit tobacco 18 years ago. It just fell of me. I used to smoke about everything I could light.

A year ago I rediscovered the joys of pipe smoking. I love it as a hobby: the products, the smoking and the community of pipe smokers in Holland and Belgium (we have a great forum and regular real life meetings).

I discovered snuff a couple of months ago and it has the same appeal to me. I feel snuff and pipe go very well together.

I smoked a pack to two packs of cigarettes a day for 17 years. I quit smoking with n-gum and stayed off for a year during that time but stressful life events brought me back to cigarettes. About two years ago I started smoking premium cigars and gave up the cigarettes altogether, I was tired of how cigarettes made me feel and inhaling smoke. I love cigars… Problem is I love them too many times a day cost and time is to heavy a loss so I started researching snuff. I never liked the idea of putting tobacco in my mouth and spitting all day plus tooth decay and I’m not looking to inhale any kind of smoke again now that my lungs feel good… I tried the pipe but I’m sensitive to tongue bite… So here I am, tried snuff two days ago for the first time, really enjoyable, being into premium cigars and tobacco I started researching British snuff and some German ones to try looking for quality overall and reducing the number of cigars I smoke per day lol. Now I’m carrying two bullets to work with me one with high dry toast and the other with viking brown, although I prefer knocking the bump into my carbox to insufflate it  that’s my story thus far…

I like pretty much every form of tobacco except cigarettes. Never liked them. I’ve often tried a cig when a friend is smoking but I just don’t get it. I also don’t like the idea of being addicted to anything and most of my friends who smoke cigarettes seem like they have to smoke even if they don’t want to or it’s inconvenient. I’ve also never tried chewing tobacco and probably won’t be doing that. I am usually comfortable stepping (respectfully) into what is supposed to be men’s territory (like cigars) but I’m not going there. Seems very much a men’s thing. Spitting is not ladylike. :)  I do like those little Oliver Twist licorice bits but they don’t involve spitting. Tobacco choices are pipe, snuff, small cigars, bits, the occasional snus, and the Tona paste I brush my teeth with if I have a toothache.
