Its an odd thing, although society frowns upon the smoking of cigarettes for various reasons, and snuff may well be a viable way to enjoy nicotine it seems to be very much in the closet, at least here in the UK. Mention you use snuff and it seems to be ridiculed first, then a question over is legality and what it means to others around you, the heath issue seems to come up last. Although snuff manufactures are seeing a rise in people ordering snuff I have never met another snuffer and do not take my box out and snuff in public, the first reaction would be as if I was snorting a drug. I am not sure what my employer would make of me snuffing at my desk for example… I was wondering if that’s a general kind of view of if its just me…
Seems about the same to me in Iowa. The generation I am in find it interesting. Any older generation thinks I am killing myself quickly and, illegally. My boss knows about my snuff habit I take 6-15 snuffs a shift. My boss thinks I am going to make a whole in my nose from it some how. None of that stops me from whipping it out anywhere except grocery stores. Maybe other places like a elementary school but, I never been to one since I was little.
I’m in Illinois and it’s about the same here. I’m not too open about it in public, just around people I tell about it, but just yesterday I snuffed with a spoon in the mall parking lot with a cop in his car about 200ft. away. 
I was almost hoping he’d see me and pull me over or something so I could have the satisfaction of sniffing something legally right in front of a cop and making him waste his time. =p I think that wouldn’t be worth it altogether though. I busted some snuff out at a bar once and was pretty open about it. Some people were interested and a couple tried it, but they snorted a line of it on the bar table lmao, so I bet that looked pretty funny. ;p I haven’t talked to my boss about it but I’ve told most of the others here (yeah I’m posting at work hah). My boss used to be a crackhead, no joke lol, so I doubt he’d be too fazed but he might look at me funny. I only personally know one other person who snuffs–the guy who introduced me to it. ;p
I find it interesting how easy it is to get legal fake weed that seems to be way worse then regular weed and, I have to buy snuff overseas! Sure my local cigar shop has like 5 types of snuff but, any headshop has like 20 fake weed types.
I have had the same thing about “getting a hole in my nose as well” My own wife is suspicious of my new “hobby”
I was at a gathering last weekend with nine other blokes, with three regular smokers in the group. They all tried my snuff, as did three other non-smokers. They all liked it. As a matter of interest I took Viking Brown and Blond, Fubar Medic and WoS Best SP.
None of that stops me from whipping it out anywhere except grocery stores.
I quite happily take snuff in the queue at the supermarket checkout. Helps keep the stress levels down…
I just don’t like doing it near children if I can help it. Although at something like a fair I will do it. The Iowa State Fair some times has the local German bar there and, they have some snuff. I have never been there when they have had this though. I have read they have a Snuff Catapult. Sounded interesting to catapult snuff.
I don’t care any more, I’m tired of having to give in, I do it where ever I want, in front of kids, the law, in the store, I don’t care. I am Joe citizen and you jack with me, you will be in the wrong, and Karma is a bitch. In the elevator is the best, once you reach for your pocket they all watch, twist open the can, or the tap box, you got everyone’s attention, jaws drop as you snuff away.

@derek_007 - Like Nike ‘Just Do It!’ Might be cause I’ve reached a certain age (as I’ve previously commented; maybe different if you’re a much younger hipster than I), but I really don’t care these days. Snuff in the passport line at the airport, supermarket, wherever I fancy a pinch I just take one. I did get an odd look the other day at a friends Christening as I dipped into some hedges in the church, but hey. I smiled sweetly at the old lady and she looked away. I used to be more subdued, but as I’m typing this I have a pot of Abraxas o my desk! The more open you are about it the less shady it seems. Plus you definately be suprised how may people are interested/curious.
When I made the switch from snuss to snuff I allowed my wife to assume it was one and the same. She then realized it was not and has not had issue one. Actually think she prefers snuff over snuss. Out and about I tend use it discretely because I just do. Not out of worry or fear that someone will have issue. I will take a pinch wherever I deem appropriate. At the office I admit that my use does violate the policy on tobacco use, which specifies tobacco (to include dip, e-cigs, snuss and smoking) must be in a designated location, and quite frankly I would bear admonishment for taking a snuff now and then at my desk if it came up vice having to haul myself out of my office and to the smoking area.
Ha ha, I’ve been snuffing for about a year and my wife just noticed it. A role of the eyes and “are you using SNUFF!?” and that was about it. I use my bullets in public whenever I feel like it. Strangely, I have offered friends and family who smoke a pinch and not one has taken me up on it. Oh well!
I have to take my snuff secretly in the office since in my country (Spain) the most extended opinion about nasal tobacco is that: 1- It is gross 2- Your nose will rot and fall if you use it 3- Putting tobacco up your nose means that you are very familiar with putting other substances up there… At work I do it discretly (I do not want my boss opinions on snuff to interfere with my job keeping perspectives) and when I´m out I do it openly without hesitation, as some fellow snuffers said it´s a great conversation starter…
Lol. I work at our family run shop ( myself the wife, mother and father) and only my wife knows I snuff. Not even my friends know. In SA people tend to be very closed minded.
I’m from Wisconsin. There is no snuff culture here. The only person who knows is my wife and the tobacconist who introduced me. That’s why a place like this is so nice.
Ohh @ghsthntr. What part of Wisconsin? I travel up there quite a bit and, have never found a tobacconist with snuff.
At first, I didn’t dare to take snuff in public. I remember one time on a bus when I took snus with me instead of snuff because with snus the views are not that annoing. But now I am confident enough to snuff wherever I want. Yes, it’s a conversation starter. And the girls fancy you when snuffing…
Still haven’t told my fiancée but when we move into the same house I would say my goose is cooked. Cooked well done…
My close friends know (indeed I’ve even gotten two of them into it) but nobody else does. One of them thought I was trying to get him to do drugs at first xD
