How long will a box of 10gr last, and how often do you take a pinch?

Hi there! You snuffers out there, for how long lasts a box of 10 gr for you in everyday normal use? I´m quite new in this, no need to owerdoze:-) Find it exiting to discover a new way of using tobacco. If you out there take a wild guess, what brand is the most popular today? Take care! /Mikke

If I’ve only got one 10g box of snuff, it will last me for 2 days. My guess is Wilson’s of Sharrow.

All depends on the snuff, and of course how many different snuffs i am using at the time( it gets pretty ridiculous at times). The moister, fluffy, coarser snuffs always seem to go faster for me(Schmalzlers, South African varities). With the occasional cigarette, 3-4 a day( i just can’t snuff 1st thing in the morning), a ten gram of my go to snuff( Dr.Rumney’s Exclusive Menthol) will last me approx 5 days. I have done 10g in under two days. As far as the OD concern, your head will be very swimmy… then you will get very, very nauseous before that is even possible. The most popular snuff out there is a topic of great debate, and the conclusion is: everyone is right. There is a limitless supply of choices, w/a true lover of everyone. In the search for yours, i recomend varying your companys a much as possible. Wilsons of Sharrow probably has more different sents than any, but i have only sampled at the most three different tobaccos/grinds. From what i have read here Fribourg and Treyer High Dry Toast is loved by many, so theres my guess.

Fine snuffs last me around 3 days, coarse, moist ones about two days If you are talking about the most popular out of Snuffhouse my guess is Poschl by far Here between the walls  of Snuffhouse i think is Toque ans WOS

Poschl sells more snuff than any other manufacturer. I suspect most of those many pounds are schmalzlers.

I use about the same amount as ap. I am also a fairly new snuffer only about three or four months. If I didn’t also smoke a pipe, I would use more I’m sure as I leave off the snuff about 7 or 8 in the evening. I haven’t a clue as to the most popular but at my house, it’s Taxi or Santo Domingo then a variety of WoS’s. If I had to pick only one it’d be a blend of WoS’s Lemon Grove and Honey Menthol.

Normal snuffs like WoS gold label, about 5 days. NTSU and other corse snuffs, about 4.

normal snuffs, 10g would last me about 5 days, schmalzlers would be 2 or 3 days. As for most popular company of mine, Wilson’s Of Sharrow has more varieties that I like, but sheer quality makes Dholakia my favorite. They only have a few different snuffs, but they are all outstanding

@snuffnoob i know you are talking about the ones that actually have dholakia names in the label but Wow Fubar Temptation Blast Qws Rockit She they are all Dholakia buddy

Tins of snuff literally lasts me forever. I alternate too, but I have never emptied a tin/tub. I have never tried to just one 10g or 5g, exclusively, to see how long it would last. I did try this, but after a couple of days, I had a desire for another kind, so I never finished the experiment. But then also, I think if I alternate like I do, what I have will last my lifetime.

It took me about a Month to empty a can of O&G but like tom said I also alternate what I snuff throughout the day. FYI I still have the first 2.5g tin of Poschl Orange that I bought 2 months ago. I probably take about 20 - 30 pinches a day.

You’ll see how not long a tin of snuff lasts when you’re down to one or two tins.

Well, summing up, there is a great snuffing going on:-) Taxi, as an example, now own by a swedish company is almost impossible to buy in Sweden. Why is that? I´m curious about Santo Domingo, any feedback on that? Here, where i live, only President and Gletcher prise is available. Why is that? Buying on the net, shure, but just going down to the store and get a Red Taxi:-)

@ Mikke: Well, Swedish Match is a multi-level, multi-national conglomerate. Leonard Dingler of South Africa, once an independent company, is just one of their many pieces. Being so huge, they spend milions researching what kind of tobacco you want, and they think Swedes are not particularly interested in nasal snuff, especially South African “roughneck” snuff like Taxi. Some is imported to England and Germany it seems, but these places have South African ex-patriot communities and also a stronger nasal snuff culture. Also I seem to remember that Swedish Match sold, or was in the process of selling, Leonard Dingler to the US based multinational giant, Altria (a.k.a. Phillip Morris). This may not have happend, someone else may know more. It seems the bigger the company, the more narrow the thinking. They’ll stick with what they’ve been doing for years, and not try to push anything new. Pushing new things when you are big, is risky, becuase if they fail, the cost is significant. Pöschl of Germany, tries to get on the shevles at least a few brands in every country. Just a different company strategy. I wish I could buy Taxi and many other things at a local store too, but the store knows that it would probably only be me buying it, so its not worth it to them. Thank goodness for the internet.

3-4 days!

Depending on the brand/aroma. Toque’s Menthol and Natural Toast last 3-4 days.

Xander! My fellow snuffer in arms, you´re so right! Well my friend, let´s get down to real snuffing! I do like sandalwood, not that much mint, actually i´m in to tobacco! Toque is not for me, not enough tobaccoflavour! What to do? Taxi red is close, tried it?

@ Mikke: Indeed I have tried Taxi Red and it is one of my favorites. I have a fair supply stored here, and I hope to never run out! Most of the other snuffs from South Africa are similar. Ntsu (black) is the one that even tops Taxi Red in strength. Taxi Blue might have a slightly better tobacco flavor than the Red, but they are close. You sound like you would also like the strong rappees from Samuel Gawith. Mr. Snuff is now carrying these in nice airtight tins. I recommend London Brown, Scotch Black, Black Rappee, and Princes Dark. Princes Dark has a bit of perfume, but still a strong taste. Wilson’s Princes is a little plainer. Also don’t forget Bernard’s! Many of their range have very good strong tobacco flavors! Read the reviews at snuffreviews.com.

Gajane, a Swedish company that makese Oden’s and Olde Viking snus also carries Athertons snuff. Are these not available in Swedish shops?

tom502-No, not in shops but on swedish netsites. In shops at home, there is just President and Gletcher prise. Sadly enough. Nothing wrong with dem, but not much too chose from. Mint is anyway not my cup of tea.
