I believe it all depends on everyone’s nose and olfactory system, but it has to do with many other factors as far as I noticed (weather type, location, etc…) but why do certain snuff’'s flavors fade away in less then 3 seconds for me? is this normal? For example I just took a huge pinch of Toque Cheese & Bacon, i doubt I felt the flavour for more than 2 seconds, nothing afterwards… Very wierd so far I have tested quite a lot of snuffs around 25 or 30 different types and the only long lasting flavors for me are Toque Rose, SP Extra, McC Clove & Raspberry and most mentholated snuffs , the rest … mostly dry snuffs last a few seconds, a bit more if I pinch very often consecutively in a few minutes. Oh! Almost forgot one that also keeps its aroma for me is Doppelaroma, this one does last !
The snuff which has had the most lingering scent in my limited experience would be Dholakia Swiss Chocolate. I am not exaggerating when I say I can still smell this snuff an hour after sniffing it.
30 seconds to 1 hr.
I find the Molen’s snuffs to be pretty long lasting although the smells change from the freshness of whatever one you are snuffing to a lingering scent combined with the tobaccos.
For me i have to say WoS Jockey Club is the longest lasting I’ve ever had.
I actually do not like snuff with a long lasting flavour because it stops me from enjoying another snuff. I prefer snuff with a nice aroma which soon gives way to the base tobacco smell. Poschl Ozona Raspberry has got a very nice smell for me but it lasts to long and does not allow the base tobacco to come through. Once I’ve got it in my nose I have to wait for almost an hour before I can enjoy something else. McChrystals Clove is a beautiful snuff too but with the same “problem”.
So far the longest lasting scents in my experience would be some of the more heavily scented F & T’s, like Macouba, French Carrotte, maybe Bordeaux etc. especially the ones containing musk, some of those linger for a few hours for me! In comparison, the Wilson’s OS menthols seem to last about 1 to 10 minutes in my ol’ sniffer. I think a lot of the scented SP’s would be maybe 5 minutes to an hour. For what it’s worth… Hope I’m not steering one with different equipment wrong.
What I was "worried’ about is specifically the snuffs that only last few seconds because I can’t really make a difference between what I’m snuffing, except of course the nicotine strengh. I would like a few of snuffs to last a bit longer but yes you are right Pieter I wouldn’t like a specific aroma to last forever either, because I cannot always clean my nostrils so I can enjoy another snuff. What I noticed about McC Clove is that I can easily change from it to different snuffs in a matter of minutes and the clove aroma is vanished totally.
WoS Brunswick lasts approximately 64 hours.
I usually get about 71 hour out of my WoS Brunswick, but the long duration is very pleasent with this snuff. The more heavily perfumed “ladies scent” snuffs also last for many hours, like F&T Frech Carrote, but in those cases it seems too much of a good thing. The longest lasting snuff I’ve ever had is the 5Photo Raja, which seems to be scented mainly with concord grapes, dates and figs, and could last well into the next decade unless you drain your sinuses with a neti pot. Another Indian Snuff that has tremendous staying power is he Dholakia Kamal, which is said to be based on Lotus Blossoms.
64… 71 hours seems a lot to me, a must try for me definitely. I noted them all and put them on might buy on next order.
