The last week I been trying to go all snuff and cut out all other forms of nicotine. Its been tough I had a couple of set backs but overall not too bad. Last night I woke up to an intense nicotine craving so I grabbed some 6 photo cheeta and started sniffing away. The craving didn’t go away and I was snuffing some big piles. Evertually I had too much in but I was still craving pretty bad so I had to put in a snus packet. I might not have given it enough time to settle in my nose…then I realized I don’t even know how long it is supposed to take for the nicotine to hit my sysytem via snuff. I assumed it was immediately just like cigs or chew. How long does it take?

I see that there is far too many variables to give a straight answer there. Never had a craving like that before that was so bad that many pinches didn’t hold off the desire to want more.
The nic hit is very near instantaneous: not as fast as a cigarette, but way faster than snus. Less than 3 seconds at most. However, if you are used to these other things, you will not be satisfied with a pinch of snuff. There is just not enough of it, unless you get some really coarse types and pack the nose full (rappees,Viking Dark, Ntsu, Taxi, etc.) With your average snuff, you get a fast hit that quickly fades leaving you wanting more. Snus keeps giving and giving whether you want it or not, and smoking gives as much as you pull on it -repeatedly. With snuff you will have to clean the nose and refill several times to get the same level of satisfaction. Remember, a mucosa blocked with old snuff cannot absorb nicotine from new snuff. There are two things you can do (actually three- if you use the above mentioned heavy types) to remedy this. Either proceed as you are doing and with some discipline lower your tolerance, or snuff pre-emptively, i.e. before you get the cravings. Just snuff whenever you have or can make an opportunity. More likely you can combine all those tricks to try and master the “snuff only” lifestyle. (Not something I can do for very long, I must admit. But no guilt, just experimentation.) Don’t forget a clean nose makes a difference!
I’ll try keeping my nose cleaner but 6 photo Cheeta should have plenty of nicotine. I slipped in a snus b4 work but other than that I’ve been ok the last 2 days with just snuff. I miss my Ecig a little but I think I’ll be ok. Thank you.
Cheers never did it for me. Try the Natural. I love 6p Natural. I find it to be quite strong after repeat pinches
*cheeta
I always wondered about old snuff blocking the new. I suppose nose-blowing once it’s been in a bit is one answer.

I will def try that on my next order. I love india snuff, have yet to order a bad one so I always open for suggestions there.
Hi @nervousrhino! I get the Hit instantly of whatever snuff I take but I have noticed that as in the first 2 years of snuffing I only used snuff or snus one thing at the time while I now more do both at the same time- I have a Huge tolerance to Nicotine…Lethal doses for non-nicotinists I guess but I’m happy about it because I love smokeless tobacco! I even chew some twist from time to time to taste tobacco heaven. I order them from the German SnuffStore.de because you get 20 g:s for 2.95€ of any taste! And by the way- I too like India snuffs a lot! =D> Have a nice time and I hope You will find Your way of Tobacco Pleasure @nervousrhino!
I find rotating snuffs somewhat helpful or try blending snuff’s and that way you have to repeatedly clean your nose out and retry the blend and if/when you arrive at a satisfactory blend then the enjoyment tends to help take your mind off any craving, for a while. I just snuffed some of my Willie Pete, Dholakia White, No.22 & Irish D Light blend and it certainly makes my eyes water. A little to much and you get some face numbness temporarily and on top of that it’s also a very nice tobacco flavour. Ok time for another pinch.

It can be very quick indeed! I’ve cut right down on the smokes and have predominantly been on e-cigs and snuff. This morning I’ve been using the e-cig at the office, but haven’t felt comfortable using snuff due to visitors being here. The e-cig has been handling the nic, but I’ve still had cravings, obviously for the other tobacco elements. The visitors left and I dove straight into the Berwick Brown, and within a minute I felt a lot better. I did however have another time earlier this week, where it took around 10 mins to get my levels into the comfort zone, and that was hitting the snuff and e-cig together so it probably depends on snuff, mood, metabolism , blah, blah, blah as to how quick you get where you need to be It seems I can be quite happy on the moderate nic snuffs for most of the time if I have the e-cig to hand. But at times I still need to grab a high nic snuff for a short term boost before dropping back on the moderate ones again. I am still having the odd smoke to be honest, but have found the pairing of snuff and e-cig does make things not just manageable, but a very pleasant alternative to smoking
