As title states, when you have a few tins lyin around, how do you pick which one to take a whiff from? For me its a loooooong, bloody battle between the snuffs before I decide that “hey, I want the world to smell like toffee!” How about you? How do you decide what you want the world to smell like today?
Good question. I approach it in the same way one might choose what one has for lunch, just kind of a ‘feeling’ about what I might like. If my nose is blocked then it’s definitely something ‘medicated’ to begin with.
I mainly grab which ever one comes to hand first. Now and then I have to decide if I need a menthol or not.
I just go to " Whats in your nose " and pick one of the last four !

I have to admit that the old “What’s in your nose” section does sometime influence my choices, both for taking and purchasing. One of the things I really like about this forum is the members enthusiasm for the different snuffs; definitely infectious I do have certain snuffs I use at different times of the day too, whites and toasts tend to be early in the day/daytime snuffs, I like my F&T’s and artisan snuffs to relax and wind down in the evenings.
Sometimes I just make an “easy” choice, like HDT or one of the Indian whites. I know I’ll like it, I always do. Sometimes I’ll make an effort to try something new or something old that I haven’t tried for a while, maybe even filling up a box and making a point of using it most of the day. And sometimes, even though I like fine, dry snuffs, I’ll just feel like the opposite. And sometimes I’ll grab a whole range of heavily scented snuffs and try them in rotation, usually late in the evening. And yeah, sometimes a comment or thread on this forum will tempt me to try something out of my comfort range.
seems that my hands goes like magnets to specific blends all the time…
Feeling allergies really bad now, so stuffing my nose with all I got
I have over 20 in my “travel box” and use them all depending on what sounds good at the time
I have a few that are my “go-to” snuffs and those are mainly American Scotches, Toque’s Rustica and English Menthols and when I want a change of pace I go for a fruity snuff or an Indian snuff. A Schmalzler every now and then is great also but being that it’s easiest for me to get the American Scotches and that’s what I have the most of ( around 13oz at the moment) I tend to take those the most to try to conserve my other snuffs that I get from Toque and MrSnuff. When I can build up a substantial collection (I would consider substantial to be somewhere around 3lbs) of snuffs from Toque and MrSnuff I’m sure I will go for them more often.
@md363 With exception of the menthols, that is pretty much me in nutshell.
On most days it depends on what I feel like on the day, and it changes every day. Although today as a cold is defiantly coming on it’s copious amounts of disgusting Red Bull, my nose doesn’t like menthol but it’s worth it to be able to breath.
@R25 Know that feeling too well. Considering my 3 first tins were mentholated, Ive grown to prefer the menthol.
After spending way to much money trying everything under the sun I found 2 that I have settled into and are pretty much what I use all day everyday. I’ll take a pinch from other brands once in a blue moon but always go back to my beloved toques.
I don’t my nose does
I carry this everywhere I go
Over 30 different snuff types at all times but my brothers snuff too so it’s not all me using It
@Sniffnsnuff Daaaaamn, thats a lot. You should donate to sad smokers around the world and get em hooked and be referred to as Master Powdered Tobacco in oogabooga country, surely theyll make a statue of you too.
