Honey Bee from Swisher

I like American scotches quite a bit, and I’m fond of the sweets.  I like WE Garrett Sweet, but I’ve been working my way through various sweets.

Thanks to a trade with @crullers, I have Honey Bee in my hands (and thus my nose) right now.

I’ve heard form the various reviews that Honey Bee has a somewhat unique honey scent and flavor to it, but I really wanted to experience it form myself.  Man, is it delicious.  Its got that American scotch warm burn, the nice rush of nicotine, and that honey scent is there.  It is definitely a sweet, but its definitively a honey sweetness.  And the honey scent stays there in your nose a good while.  This will be giving WE Garrett a run for its money in my rotation of snuffs.

American scotches and scotch sweets can be a little difficult to snuff properly.  Takes some care and practice to not hit the back of your throat.  I like a variety of snuff types from a variety of places, but I don’t think a snuff rotation is complete without an American scotch in your snoot now and again.

I haven’t tried any of the American snuffs yet … I know that’s crazy considering I’m in Georgia … but I think Honey Bee sounds like a good one to try first.  My local tobacco shop carries a good selection of American snuffs too.

If they don’t have Honey Bee, give WE Garrett Sweet a try.  It is fairly representative of the sweet scotches.

I wonder whatever happened to member Scurvy :bz, I think this was his favorite.  If it does get to the back of the throat, the drip is delicious!

Every snuffer should have a Scotch ,I prefer plain but do enjoy a sweet on occasion. They are definitely up there on the nicotine scale.

A lot of the US companies are in a gradual process of discontinuing their dry snuffs. Quite a few have disappeared the past couple years, and I think it was on a thread right here on Snuffhouse that somebody contacted a high-up rep from Swisher and they didn’t even know their own company was still manufacturing dry snuff. I myself contacted the rep for my region, and he knew such products exist but didn’t give me accurate information about which store carried them.

The scotch snuff tins keep for many years, so when you find them, stock up just in case. Honey Bee, definitely. Bruton from US Smokeless if you like F&T High Dry Toast. I like the Helme’s/Swisher Wild Cherry for its uniqueness. But really, just grab everything you can. The odds are against a resurgence of mainstream American snuffs, and alas it looks like within our lifetimes there will be few or none. I’m essentially an optimistic person, but the trends I am seeing force me to view the US snuff situation realistically.

Yes, the idea that WE Garrett or Honey Bee is going to become a popular culture fad, and start flying off the shelves, seems pretty unlikely.

To be honest, I’m sort of amazed they are still made.  Maybe enough people in the South are still dipping them. It can’t be nasal snuff users keeping them alive, I would think.  At the store where I buy Garrett products, they sit on a table behind the counter.  Whenever I ask for them, I have to point out to the clerk where they are sitting.  I’ve tried to keep a casual count of how many cans they have to see if I’m the only person buying them.  LOL.  But, I guess keeping count is not one of my strengths.

Honey Bee is one of my favorites, despite the fact that it clogs my nose pretty quickly. I’m thinking now that I’d better place another order, given that I too can see this product suddenly becoming unavailable in the near future.

I hadn’t tried any of the American snuffs, too busy using up my stash of English snuffs, but I dreamed about Honey Bee this morning (!) so I went out and bought some.  I’m not used to such a fine grind, couldn’t use a spoon because that sent it straight to the back of the throat, but pinches worked well.  Smooth honey flavor with a sneaky nicotine kick, easy to take but also easy to overdo. The sweetness is too much for me, but I will mix it with something unsweetened, and then it will be fine for my tastes.

American scotches are very good, if anyone hasn’t picked up a can for 3 bucks at the gas station yet you’re really missing out. I learned the sweets congest me something awful though. Some of them are so flavorful you can mix them in a low proportion with a plain non congestive snuff and still taste them perfectly without the blockage. My latest all day favorite is tube rose maybe 10-20% with dholakia toast, railroad mills etc, anything fine, plain with vit n. The magic smokey sweet essence of tube rose comes through perfectly and congestion is nearly nil. I like it so much I mixed up the last of my tube rose can into a freshly opened dholakia medium dry toast and have been hitting it for the last 2 days. I have a ton of variety but nearly every time I want another toot that’s what I reach for

I like to mix my Swisher Honey :bz with some Toque Spanish Gem I seem to enjoy it try it and let me know if u like that mix.

Went to a Smoker Friendly franchise shop in Hagerstown, MD, and spoke to the owner. In the decade or two she’s owned the place, not a single customer has asked for dry snuff. The WV shop about 20 miles south still carries a couple dry snuffs for those who dip them, but the evidence is clear it’s a dying thing, and it is fading southward.

I am very interested in this snuff ! Is there any one who could miss a tiny sample and send it to me ? Just by normal mail ? I would be thrilled ! Of course I will pay for postage !

I find that Honey Bee doesn’t clog me up as much as it did initially, though it still does so more than anything else. Still, I love it and I’m glad I’ve got what for me will be a lifetime supply. @Marielle32 I can send you some, but it would be a few weeks before I got the chance. Not sure what kind of patience you’ve got!

@Tobe that would be great and I don’t have any patients :(( but I’m very thankful for your offer !

American scotch, specifically we garrett reg and sweet is all i used when i first started cuz thats all that was available. It got to the point early on that i cursed them as vile devil dust. Having now sampled many many snuffs, im reaching for them just as often as any other and really believe they are very well done for what they are and truly wish i could find others locally as the prices at MS are outrageous to me when i can get 1.15OZ for $4. I too kept a casual count on the tins, and the sweet moves quite fast actually. The shop i buy it at recently switched to the plastic containers so theres a “fresh” case of each i can track. There must be a market for them somewhere, and it would be such a shame if this piece of “Americana” was hurled into the furnace and lost forever.

I advise everyone to look on eBay. Look under ‘snuff tins, unopened’. I just got an unopened, plastic tub(recent production) of HoneyBee for $3.00. Last month, Railroad Mills Sweet in great shape for $5.00. If you look weekly, you’ll see all sorts of old snuffs come up for auction. Some are very overpriced, but some aren’t. Thats what I do because where I live (CO) the only smokeless tobacco they sell is Copenhagen, Grizzly, General, etc.Snus, but no snuff. I even went as far as trying to contact Sam’s Club, Costco, etc, and they all answered, saying they cannot ship snuff products over state lines. Thank God our government is watching out for us. They wouldn’t want any snuff falling into the wrong hands! It might result in a nation-wide health catastrophe!

@mrmanos…thx for the tip.ill check out ebay. yeah,Costco in my area doesnt even sell tobacco products anymore…thank you California…Big Brother watching out for us. Hyper-regulating and micro-managing tobacco is just going to cause a rise in black market trade, which is what,i suspect, was one of the forethoughts of the masterminds who created PACT. Anyway, 3 bucks for Honey Bee is awesome!

@mrmanos eBay is not an option for me .the shipping kost are 5x the price of the snuff or they don’ t ship to the Netherlands at all…
