I thought of creating a thread with ideas, recepies and experience with home made (individual) snuff creations. Some of us seem to experiment and we can learn from each other. So here a general warning out of my experience: don’t use vegetable oils on tobacco. So far I tried truffle oil, and ginger oil but both could be tossed they distroy your snuff and don’t add the desired scent. Vinegar does good work in snuff but it takes some weeks to settle. For instance herbal vinegar is a nice addition to a natural tobacco. I’m very much experimenting so will post a good or bad outcome over here.
I had some stale Paul gotard lying around, the scent all but gone. So I took some cheap baking flavouring, put a few drops in the tapbox and gave it a shake. Now I have something that is atleast moist enough to snuff, and with a distinct scent. Not a good or great snuff, by any means, but it’s better than to throw the stale stuff away =)
Depends on what you have available. I like fresh ingredients. I have used the color off of citrus fruit, fresh picked herbs, flowers picked at the right time of day. Or you can make hydrosol and use that. I have used liquid smoke, Mc Cormick Root beer Concentrate. Extracts like Almond .Anise, Coffee, lemon, Mint, Orange, Peppermint, Vanilla, Raspberry. I say Cinnamon too if you enjoy the burn. But I never have make my own snuff just enhanced flavorless ones. You could buy food grade essential oils also; http://shop.lorannoils.com/ use with respect.
