I’m a little short on cash at the moment and would like to put in an order for a few more snuffs to get me over the holiday season.
These are the snuffs which I love and if you have any suggestions on others I may like or should try.
Spanish Gem one of my favorites will be going on the next order, I’ve recently fallen in love with Viking Brown and Thor’s Hammer. I’ve gone right through the McC’s range and love the O&G and Highland Ice as a menthol although cannot use these all day. I liked the Toque Silver Dollar Raspberry although Toque menthol is great there is something missing or different. I haven’t had all that much luck with Wilsons of Sharrow range not enough nicotine with Crumbs of comfort, Honey menthol, Rose or Tom Buck. I seem think a lot of SP’s are very nice although something small is missing with the Toque SP and McC’s SP although I love the plain tobacco notes, I also like moderate natural scents like the ones in Spanish Gem although I haven’t been over the moon with perfume scents from F&T J.R. Justice. A pleasant back drip like taste of earl grey tea from McC’s is very pleasant unlike the over the top bitter or chemical taste from others like J.R. Justice. Poschl’s arnt for me too candy like with underwhelming nicotine, A lot of Dry and fine tobacco’s I’m still working on the technique so are not too enjoyable at this moment in my snuffing career, but can defiantly see the appeal.
I haven’t tried any snuffs yet from the American Snuff Co, Buzz, Dean Swift, F.U.B.A.R, Q Snuff, Rockit, Swisher, US Smokeless, Abraxas, Gawith Hoggarth Snuff, J & H Wilson (other than SP No1), Samuel Gawith or Sir Walter Scott’s.
If anyone could help me out with some of your suggestions it would be very much appreciated. Thankyou
You tried Viking. Then you have had Samuel Gawith. They make viking.
Black Rappee ,London Brown, are plain tobaccos. SG don’t do fruits well. but the other flavored snuffs are good .Like Black Coffee, Elmo’s Reserve to name a few.
Never buy the 10 gram box always buy the 25g sealed tins.
Have you tried McChrystal’s S’Nuff? It’s got a nice fat nicotine hit (it’s a smoker’s blend), a balanced, mild bergamot scent overlaying the perfected McC’s tobacco base, and a delightful earl grey backdrip.
might want to secure a tin of McChrystal’s Cinnamon, it’s ther Christmas/Holiday snuff , and read that Ian McChrystal put that one together himself. Samuel gawith be another good Christmas.Holiday snuff to have too, but see that it’s currently soldout on MrSnuff
Based on your preferences, here are a few suggestions. GH: Kendall Brown (25g tins only) SG: Toffee, Hazlenut, Black Coffee, Vanilla, Scotch Black, Grousemoor, SP Scotch (25g tins only) Toque: Toffee, Vanilla, Berwick Brown F&T: Old Paris, Santa Domingo, Kendal Brown Wilsons: Best Dark, Irish Coffee, Butterscotch, Thyme and Lemon If you have ones that you find too fruity, too floral, or otherwise not tobacco flavoured enough, try mixing a small amount with whichever Viking seems most appropriate. For example, 25% Firedance and 75% Viking Brown, or 25% JR Justice and 75% Viking Blonde. Some very nice snuff cocktails can be discovered this way. Side note: I used to find Wilsons a little light on the nic too, but not as much these days. I think when you start to let go of expecting an instant “hit”, you begin to appreciate the “glow” of snuffs that deliver a slower release due to a coarser grind or less aggressive chemistry.
I have some Kendal Brown Samuel Gawith, wasn’t sure which one to get since there are 3 Kendal Brown, the Samuel Gawith sounds like my taste, a nice tobacco base. @basement_shaman This makes me wonder if its anything like Viking Brown due to what ive heard. Also have some Viking Dark on its way, with 3 tins of Spanish Gem.
@SHbickel I believe I have tried the S’Nuff if that’s the McC’s Smokers blend. Very nice snuff although at the time it was a little difficult to snuff due to the dryer finer grains, I will put this on the next order since my art has improved quite a bit since my first snuff order.
I have tried the McC’s Cinnamon, nice base like all of the McC range I found out I like the taste of cinnamon but not really the smell.
@50ft_trad have you tried the other types of Kendal Brown, I was tossing up between GH and SG and decided on SG due to its age old recipe. Wilsons for me are alittle underwhelming on the nicotine front I am still quite nicotine dependent due to years of smoking, I have noticed that a lot of snuffs that didn’t do it for me initially have a noticeable nicotine level now. I will chuck SG Hazlenut, Vanilla onto the list and look into Grousemoor a little further. So far the small F&T tins I have a really pleasant although heavily perfumed. Also good idea on the mix man I’m rocking out 1/4 JR Justice and Viking Brown.
Thanks for your suggestions I really look forward to trying these!
@Aamon I gave up the cigs in April this year after 25 years of smoking. Wilson’s are one of my favourite snuff makers. A lot of their snuffs don’t give much burn, which means the ph levels aren’t as dissimilar to body chemistry as some other snuffs, and therefore it doesn’t get into the bloodsteam as quick. They might not get you “through the day” just yet, but of an evening where you can take pinches little and often, they can be a highly enjoyable and satisfying snuff. I have “overdone it” a few times with Wilsons snuffs. Don’t blow them out too quick. I have tried other KBs, and as someone mentioned earlier, you just have to find what works for you. I mentioned this one as I’m not sure you’d connect with the other GH offerings just yet… maybe Ambassador. I tend to snuff mixes more than straight snuffs these days. The other mixes are stuff I don’t like. They all get dumped in a pot and “evolve” into something more enjoyable.
I agree with basement shaman, hydrate dry snuff. Eventually it will dry out to its current dry level, and it should give you time to acclimate to dry snuffs. just a heads up, it doesn’t take long to hydrate the snuffs if they are at their proper hydration levels compared to rehydrating the snuffs.
