Heterodox Pinching.

So, what with one thing and another, I tried to pinch, outta my trusty little tin of W.E Garrett, using my thumb and middle finger. Not only could I reach far more deeply into the tin, but also, I found that the delivery to the nostrils seemed a bit easier. Somehow, the pinch with the middle finger allows more control. Who knows? Perhaps all those years of flipping folk the bird have given me better fine muscle control there than with my index finger, or perhaps it’s something mechanical, but a thumb and middle-finger pinch seems to be working out for me. Anyone else got any heterodox pinch techniques?

I never use the pointer for pinching, always the middle. Then I use the pointer or ring finger for breath control on the opposite nostril like a carburetor while snuffing from the thumb tip. Better breath control that way. It comes in handy when I have a slightly plugged nasal passage or heavier snuff and I need extra vacuum. That makes four fingers available for varying types of snuff and nasal passage situations.

I think you guys just have different brains.

Sweetness! Maybe the middle finger is the one I should have been using all along! And here I thought it was just for driving.

lol…highly likely. I get a kick out of snuffing techniques. Just as varied as the flavors. Long Live Snuff!!

Hell, before I learned to pinch, I was an advocate of the “use-a-tiny-spoon-to-ladle-a-small-pile-on-thumbnail” technique, as it was the first and only one I’d ever seen used.

In South Africa middle fingers are only used for sign language while driving.

Guanxi88, I’ve never tried that. My guess is that the wider surface area of the middle finger helps to control the uptake. Pieter, Would that sign indicate “Please go ahead”, or “My mistake, you have the right of way”, or “If you don’t like my driving, call 1-800-328-7448”? lol

Just took a pinch of Kohinoor to see, and it seems that I, too, use the middle finger. Interesting!
