I just received 2 bullets in the mail from Toque. They don’t seem broken or defective, so I’m going to guess that it’s user error. Anyways, I’m a little fuzzy on how bullets work in the first place. Also, it seems like no matter what I try, the snuff doesn’t come out. What am I doing wrong?
This happened to me when I fist ordered them. The thing with Toque bullets is that they are absolutely PACKED full of snuff, that’s probably why you can’t get any out. You need to open them from the bottom, scrape some out until the snuff is loosened and can move about enough to go into the dosing chamber (maybe empty out about a quarter of the contents). Should work then.
Thank you. I remember Roderick saying that a while ago. I’ll try it.
Stick a toothpick straight down the middle after you’ve taken a bit out to loosen the rest. Better still buy a snuffbox, bullets are a bit of a novelty but not that great for delivering snuff, unless it’s very fine and dry. You’ll get lots of blank doses where nothing comes out because the snuff is clumping together and you have to give the bullet a good few flicks.
Thanks for the advice. I ordered the bullets from Toque because I could get them filled with snuffs I like, so even if they don’t pan out, I still have a little extra of Quit and Natural Toast. My main reason for trying them is to not look like a weirdo by pulling out a tin and taking a pinch when I’m out in public. Also, I’m going to start back at work soon and I feel like snuff bullets will be better for me in that respect also. If they don’t work for me, I’ll probably just use snus when I’m outta the house and snuff when I’m home.
Don’t get me wrong, bullets are a great idea and I use one occasionally. Its just that they are a great idea that doesn’t work that well. The reason is simple; they are not made or intended for snuff; they are head shop bullets, that’s why the dose chamber is so small. Because of that any snuff with a degree of moisture will clump under the head and if you take large pinches you will need several hits. Where they do come into their own though is with very fine, dry snuffs. They are superb with something like Dholakia white as it tames it a touch. If I ever have one of my occasional cigarette cravings I go for a bullet with some white in it - as Ive said before its the closest snuff experience to a pull on a cigarette. IMHO of course.
Good points, you can make the plastic ones much better with a craft knife and a bit of patience.
I’ve mentioned it on other threads, but I’d like to point out again that my Toque acrylic bullet survived a trip through the wash while loaded with snuff. Even the label was intact. Just sayin’
It did not even turned into Toque Tide?
The snuff seemed to be pretty dry afterwards, but I cleared it out anyway.
Thx Roderick, I will probably try the latter suggestion as soon as I get more familiar with my bullets. Snuffster: I agree with you 10x over. I’m all about the pinch and I take huge pinches. I will probably need 3-4 doses to get a pinch (or 2 from a “pimped” bullet). The bullet is only about the discretion for me. I bought them on a whim. I have a ton of scotches, so I figured I’d refilling them with those.
The metal bullets Roderick sells are my favourites; great value and pretty cool and robust.
I’ll keep that in mind if I do like the bullets. Hey thanks for the advice though. I’ve been using my snuff spoon and taking spoonfuls out of the bullets to do. I got my Quit bullet to work after I took a little bit around the bottom. Then I took a bobby pin my gf left here and broke through all the snuff on top.
Learn somethin new everyday. All this time and I thought the Toque bullets were sealed shut. My bad. Had a look at the Zuka black bullet I’ve got but that one seems a bit more challenging to unscrew, does say faintly to send it back to some address for recycling after I removed the label.
Yeah I don’t use bullets that often- unless I’m at a formal event or such occasion… for that they come in handy. Otherwise I usually pinch or use my DL spoon. (for @ddavelarsen!)
Ours unscrew at the base. I was told the Zuka ones are sealed to satisfy bouncers at London clubs that the contents are not illicit. When I pointed out that you could fill them from the top, I was told no one had thought of that.
Is Zuka now out of business? I know Snuffstore has some old stock but the website disapeared a while ago. Just shows how easy it is to miss the mark in business; they made a big mistake with the sealed bullet and non-descript snuff I guess.
I bought the Zuka probably a year ago from the Northerner (I think) and still haven’t finished it. Filling from the top seems to be more trouble than it’s worth but if the Londoner’s were mixing a special blend into the bottle then maybe it might of been worth the effort. But then again, not a great deal would fit in that small bottle and I’d doubt I’d be bothered trying to hide it that way from the bouncers. Interesting marketing strategy but maybe it should’ve been Zuka White instead
the fact that it only came in a bullet and that bullet was kinda pricey for the snuff you got. I liked the snuff but not enough more to also buy a decent but disposable bullet each time.
