Hi,

I’m trying to do a timeline for the history of snuff, it’s for a booklet I’m making for people to flick through while waiting for the snuff bar, so is meant to be entertaining rather than academic.

If you think it is useful I will put it onto snuffwiki once it is complete.

This is where I have got to so far. Has anyone got anything interesting to add up to 1723?

I’ve used ‘La Diva Nicotina’ for most of the dates. I’ve put the founding of Fribourgs & Treyer as 1723 as stated in ‘The Snuff Shop’ rather than 1720 as stated in ‘Nicotina’…

V

you should have it go up to present day. cool stuff mate.

J

the thing is i dont think anyone will click on this thread  who wants to help someone with homework ??

Jaap’s birthday is the next large event on your timeline

B

it should end present day MR. Spleens traveling snuffpurioum or some such thing like that. I know it is pure chesse but ads a nice touch to the timeline.

I’ve always thought a flow chart would be nice, depending what types of snuff you prefer, it would funnel you down to what type of person you were at the bottom…like the ‘cheez & Bacon’ folk around here.

B

“and the snuffpocolypse began with the horrific cheese and bacon”

V

Haha I always thought of that too, you would have to make a separate flow chart for each company though, otherwise it would never work.

Hi,

Yes, I’ve only stopped at 1723 because I had to go and do my day job. (Which involved a nice 6 hour drive from Norwich to Preston). I’ll be finishing it off next week and will repost then.

I intend to finish with ‘Launch of Reginald Spleens Travelling Snuff Bar, crowds go wild, public holiday established, etc’

I’m too much of a newby to be able to do the type of snuff flow chart for all snuffs, but I think I will nick that idea for the 30 or so I use in the bar. The vast majority of the people I see haven’t done snuff before. I always start them on Wilson’s Chocolate Orange as everyone knows what chocolate orange tastes like, it’s mild and it introduces them to having a flavour in their nose rather than a smell. Then I give them Attar of Roses to show how different the flavours can be. Then a really menthol one like Honey Menthol. If they are smokers then I am more likely to go from the Chocolate Orange to Queens Extra Strong or one of the Toasts. Anyway that is probably for a different thread!
