Help: Not Enjoying Snuff Any More

I am writing to seek the perspective of the experienced snufftakers of this forum. In summary, I have entered a phase in my snuff use where I am experiencing only the downsides of snuff with no benefits, and I want to know how to fix this.

Here is my background. I was a smoker as a teen. Last year, I became interested in tobacco again, but I wanted a safer way to consume it. I started snuffing ground virginica with no additives, which originally gave me strong, enjoyable effects. The effects waned. I tried rustica, which actually felt weaker. I experimented with alkalizers but I cannot tell whether they had an effect. Finally, I purchased my first commercial snuffs from Toque. These had good scents, but the effects were still unsatisfactory.

Right now, snuff just makes me weak and anxious. It is like inhaling weakness and anxiety. I have tried different snuffs, techniques, dosages, and frequencies, but nothing seemed to improve my experience. If anyone has any advice on how to enjoy snuff again, I would appreciate it.

Drink plenty of water during your day, dont forget to stay hydrated. Do some push-ups or go for a walk everyday. Have a balanced diet. If you snuff a lot, try to minimize your consumption for some days and then see how it affects you. It is nicotine after all and affects your blood pressure.

Maybe you have too much nicotine in your body by snuffing all day long or maybe its psychological but

either way your body is telling you to cut back a little.  Or try to completely stop snuffing for a week or two which is hard because now you are addicted to nicotine.

About weak snuffs, you may not feel the effects instantly but if you overdo it with weak snuffs like snuffing them all day every minute trying to catch that nicotine buzz calming effect, nicotine still goes in your body and at the end of the day maybe too much nic can lead to anxiety and fatigue/ weakness (nicotine poisoning).

I feel that what you describe is the effects of high blood pressure or nicotine poisoning, so try to stop or minimize your usage and keep a healthy routine.

I have never experienced something like this though.

How much do you snuff per day and in what frequencies ? Have you ever tried to stop snuffing for some days?

The positive thing is that if you cant enjoy it anymore it is time for you to cut this addiction!

Thank you for your reply. Blood pressure or general health may be an issue, since I do lead a stressful life. But an argument against the nicotine overdose hypothesis is that I still have my problem after not consuming nicotine for two weeks.

I actually have not found it difficult to abstain from snuff. When I started last year, I would snuff by the hour, sometimes as much as every ten minutes. But in the last few months, since the positive effects waned, I snuff 0-2 days of the week. On a day that I do snuff, I will typically partake a few times in 15-30 minute succession.

I take variously Toque Spanish Gem, Natural, Whiskey and Honey, and Original; Fribourg & Tryer High Dry T; Brunswick Black Rapee; Poschl Red Bull; and Schmalzerfranzl Original. I enjoy the scents but the somatic effects are unpleasant. Whiskey and Honey is said by some to be stronger but I cannot clearly tell the difference.

I am fine with abandoning snuff, but I was hoping to find some enlightened way to enjoy it. My thinking is that perhaps I am just doing something wrong.

What could you doing wrong?

Its simply taking a pinch of snuff and enjoy it or not. Some people like it some not.

I never felt or know anyone who feels unpleasant somatic effects of weakness and anxiety.

Even the nicotine hit is subtle and some snuffers can feel it, so many people i know dont feel any somatic effect (even the good one from nic hit). In general though being well hydrated with water is the key to a lot of weakness feelings but I am not a doctor and better go to one if you have witnessed a change in your health (weakness and anxiety…) even when not snuffing for weeks as you said.

I think your problem doesnt relate to snuff, but better go to a doctor.

About snuff, at the end of the day it boils down to if you like and enjoy it or not.

Assuming you snuff the normal way  and not eating snuff or putting snuff in your ears or something weird…

I cant understand your thinking that perhaps you just doing something wrong man. Like what?

Like timing, type of snuff, or technique. I actually went to a doctor recently and was told everything was fine. I guess I will take care of myself, and continue to finish my snuff supply as the mood strikes me, and see if anything changes. If not, then maybe I am just not a snuff person in the long-term.

Hi there, im pretty new to snuff. The anxiety is most likely coming from something else. We all have anxious feelings from time to time however if it’s interfering in your life it’s worth having a look at. Take care of your nutrition, exercise, sleep and I’m assuming you have good connection with friends. Don’t underestimate the calming effects of deep breathing.
