Hi, just introducing myself. I’m Paul. I work full time as a musician. I gave up smoking 7 years back and have had to give up drinking now as well. I wanted a new hobby / habit and I am very much enjoying snuff. I’m enjoying the history, variety, different tastes and textures and am looking forward to gleaning some knowledge from yourselves. So far I’ve tried Samuel Gawith Scotch Black & Black Rapee. Gawith Apricot. Gawith and Hoggarth Kendal Brown CM & Irish D. Chief Quality Red Bull. Wilsons of Sharrow Dynamite, Irish D.H. Toast 20, Irish Toast 22, Aniseed Extra and Kendal Brown. I was interested in the discussion regarding Spanish Jewel and whilst understanding that it’s not the same have ordered some Spanish Gem from Torque as well as some ginger and some SP Extra. I have to say though my hands down favourite at the moment is the Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Brown. is it just me or is the difference between that and the Wilsons of Sharrow snuff of the same name very pronounced? I don’t think it’s my imagination but as I say, I’m new to this rather enjoyable world. Anyway best wishes one and all
Lol. I appear to have posted this in the wrong area… “I’ll get me coat”
Welcome Paul, if you send a message to a moderator I’m sure they’ll move the thread to the best location. Great hobby isn’t it? Interestingly, I have tried about 20 different snuffs since I started in March I have not tried a single one that you have! Just goes to show what choice there is out there.
Try some of Wilsons Friburg & Tree range. I’m sure you’ll like them. HDT will rock your world.
Treyer even. Dan auto correct!
Welcome ranco61, Paul, lots of good folks here. Good to see you taking care of yourself; a lot of us have walked similar paths.
Thanks for the warm welcome folks. Just finding my feet with Snuffhouse and liking what I’m seeing. Really nice to see so many different people with a common interest. Good to know other people have arrived through the same door. I am based in Blackpool in Lancashire, UK. I appear to be very lucky as I am only an hour away from Kendal in Cumbria, UK. I have been making enquiries about visiting Samuel Gawith & Co, Apparently according to “Snuff” a pamphlet by Ursular Bourne, the Mill has some of the oldest snuff manufacturing machinery still being used and was second hand in 1792 when they started producing Kendal Brown! Haha, sorry I’m begining to turn into a snuff buff lol. Anyway if I can get in and get some pics would anyone want to see them and is there a specific section / forum page? I also talked to Gawith Hoggarth but they’re a bonded warehouse so I’ve got more chance of knitting fog! Once again thanks for welcoming me in

If you can get some pics I’d love to see them. Just filling up a shopping cart full of their pipe tobacco and they are my favourite snuff makers.
Hi crullers. Hopefully heading there on Tuesday 18th if I can get permission. Should be fun! My wife reckons I’m not interested in the machines and it’s just an excuse to get inside and breathe in extremely deeply!
Welcome to the forum @ranco61.
Thanks Jim
I mentioned the on an earlier post my current preference for Kendal Brown well my order from Torque arrived! In amongst the snuffs I’d bought was Spanish Gem. I have to say even though I’m a novice snuff taker I have found an instant attraction to this snuff. To me at any rate there seems to be a chocolate flavour in there and it appears to tingle at the front of my nose, love it! Not a very educated review but it’s a first for me and if anyone out there can empathise and recommend more snuffs that have this type of flavour and effect then I’d love to know? Also at the risk of sounding dumb, does anyone tell me how to contact a moderator.
