A lot of people who don’t like the snuff bullets complain it provides too much or too concentrated amounts of snuff at once that ends up going too far up into the sinuses. I don’t particularly have a problem with this, but here’s a new way I use my bullet. It’s quick, very clean, and simple: 1. Load the portion of snuff into the bullet, tap it to get it nice and full. 2. Then with the opposite hand, form a boxcar with your thumb. 3. Dump the portion of snuff from the bullet into the boxcar. 4. Sniff away. I find this a great easy way to dispense the snuff from the bullet without snuffing from the bullet itself, and eliminates the issue of too much going up too far into the nose. It also dispenses the perfect portion of snuff for my needs, without having to deal with the mess of opening a tin and pinching it, etc. It’s also very convenient in situations where you really can’t pull out the tin and all that stuff. Anyone else done this?
I will sometimes tap it out on a table or snus tin and press my index finger into the pile of snuff and take it that way. I do this much more often than snuffing directly from the bullet.
I do the same but, onto the back of my hand. I had started dumping it onto the back of my had cause one of my snuffs was so easy to take I had to check how much was really coming out. After that it seem’d easier to just do it from the bullet off the back of my hand.
I do this all the time, but back of the hand instead of boxcar.
I never got on snuffing straight from the bullet, I either tapped onto the back of my hand or boxcar. I find the bullets I have don’t work too well with SPs as they’re too fine and leak out.
I find angling and distance to nose plays a role with bullets
@Rogue, That’s definitely what I found with bullets. If you don’t stick the whole bullet right into your nose and inhale really hard, you can get it just right. It’s all about technique!
I wanted to test how air tight a metal bullet is so, I put my nostril over the open loading end of the bullet and, breathed in. I can tell you right now, it is pretty air tight but, all the snuff shifted to in my nose. It was a bit much of Spanish Gem in my nose. Looking back, next time I test air tightness I shall remove the snuff before hand unless I want to practice for snuffing competition.
@DopamineRush amen, bro. Bullets get it just right for me, and is a very clean way.
With my white snuffs and my Rustica and sometimes American scotches I use bullets to place a measured amount onto the back of my hand and pinch from there.
always from the bullet. The bullet only exsists for two reasons. Too much wind or because it’s too dark to get the snuff where it belongs with normal means.
Not my favoured method of snuff taking, but as @bob points out they do have their unique circumstances when they are a valuable and useful part of the snuff takers apparatus. Wedging it in solid in your nose and sucking it like it’s your last breath works well for other bullet fillings {so SWIM says - or ‘I have what you need’ in Mexican } But for snuffing tobacco, a more delcate and sensitive technique is needed I reckon…
