I have been reading about making my own snuff on this forum and was wondering if anyone has tried adding powdered food flavourings to scent it. Or would this be a bad idea.
Someone here said he used a lemonade powder and that he enjoyed it very much. Small batches made when testing would be recommended.
Wouldn’t you want to use an essential oil base as opposed to onion powder or what not?
I would avoid it if possible. I think some of the dustiness in xmas pudding is powdered nutmeg(not that I am sure that there is any). I am trying to think of scents that come generally in powdered form. I have been experimenting with cigar and pipe tobaccos, and have found they are rich in scents I don’t find in snuffs. I would be inclined to try and “add” a scent to the snuff, and not another ingredient altogether.
Speaking from my imagination ,If you grow your own tobacco ,curing with a powdered food would work to impregnate the leaf, the underside of the leaf gets sticky. Have not tried it ,Have confidence it should work. I think I will have a go next planting season with some coffee dusted weekly a month before harvest. Some for pipe tobacco and some for snuff making. Caffeine & Nicotine are my favorite drugs of choice >:)
Thanks for the replies I was just thinking of different ways to add scents to snuff and came up with powered food flavourings like the ones sold by cake shops you can buy everything from cherry to whisky and wondered if you could use these.
