Has anyone made snuff from G&H Best Brown #2 (pipe tobacco)? Just curious.

Interesting idea. I have a load of BB No 2 here… Mind you, I’m more likely to smoke it in a pipe! I suspect that the casing may interfere with the grinding. SG’s Best Brown might work better.

Yeah, I don’t think I’d actually do it with the #2. It’s one of my favorites for smoking! I’ve thought about it with SG’s Best Brown too. Got alot of that as well. True, too, that it (the #2) might be difficult to grind.

I’ve never made snuff from GH Best Brown #2, but I have made snuff from GH Kendal Kentucky and its pretty good, tastes almost like a HDT. And I agree Best Brown #2 is a damn good smoke, just the right amount of lakeland scent. If you like BB#2 you should try their Louisiana Flake, its tastes almost identical to BB#2 at first then around halfway down the bowl the perique starts to take the stage, a great transitional smoke that never gets boring.

@n9inchnails: I agree – just the right amount of lakeland scent. Your description of LA Flake makes me want to try it. I’ve thought about trying it before. I believe I remember someone on here talking about grinding snuff from Dark Plug. I’ve got some Kendal Dark Shag cellared, so considering what you said about Kendal KY, I can just about imagine…

@ n9inchnails - I’ll second that. Louisiana Flake is excellent. Subtly different to SG St James Flake, which I am also very keen on. Mind you, I’ve been on Squadron Leader all evening but there’ll be a hefty pinch of O&G before I hit the sack

I’ve been drying out a few flakes of SG St James Flake, along with a couple of Peterson’s University Flake, with a view to grinding them into snuff.

@PipenSnusnSnuff: The University Flake idea sounds good. I’ve heard of doing it w/Irish Flake as well.

University Flake snuff does sound good, but Irish Flake is far too good to use for snuff.

Haddo’s Delight is what I’m snuffing right now. I added a little (about 3 small spoons of Railroad Mills Maccoboy to moisturize it just a tad and it isn’t bad. about 4 gm Haddo’s Delight ground finely about 3 small salt spoons of Railroad Mills Maccoboy

I found that, when smoked, MacBaren’s Club Blend bit me to no end. No such problem when sniffed

@Zanaspus: Really, I have at least 3/4 of a 100g tin of Club Blend thats well over a year old, I never smoke it because it doesn’t taste that good and it does bite worse than a rabbid dog, now that you said that I think I’m going to turn it all into snuff, no point in wasting tobacco even if if is Mac"Bite"ns.
