I tried to consume all my tobacco before the WNTD but cannot finish it all in time… if I keep trying maybe for the 2019 WNTD I can do it!

Shucks! Did I miss it? Oh well, maybe next year. Or not.

I celebrated by attending the Pipe and Tobacco Club of Indonesia’s “smokers’ rights” event at the National Arts Center here, where they temporarily joined forces with a Kretek group to set up a stall selling a few local pipe makers’ products and handing out free tobacco samples to over 18s. An excellent event, I only realized later that they planned it to coincide with this No Tobacco day thing. Really good fun, a good group of people, almost all Indonesians, I’m the token expatriate mascot. I was even interviewed for television on my opinion about laws restricting smoking in some public spaces. I just said I could understand restricting smoking in enclosed, air conditioned spaces, but apart from that, people over the age of eighteen should be able to make their own decisions without government interference. I took my girlfriend and her three year old daughter. The young girl was startled to learn that I’m not, in fact, the only human being in the universe to smoke a pipe, as she had previously supposed.

I still think you should be able to smoke in bars. Maybe have like a smokers license so not all bars will have smoking for the non smokers.
