Hankies

S

Any good handkerchief recommendations?  All of the typical hankies I’ve bought have been too rough on my nose, so I’m hoping someone has encountered a softer solution.  I’m hoping I don’t have to stick with tissues due to cost and waste.

Through Mr. Snuff potlucks, I’ve acquired quite a few little brown hankies that come in the Q Snuff kits.  After going through the wash a couple of times I’d say they’re pretty soft.  I think any chance you get, throw hankies in the wash to get them softened up.  At least I’m hoping that helps with my new Bernard’s hankie, which is pretty rough.

Putting them through the wash a couple of times seems to solve most problems. A good eBay source is the Surrey Linen Company who sell bandanas at

Ah. Site doesn’t like pound signs… They are a third of the price you’d pay on the High Street!

I buy red and blue bandanas on amazon for cheap. The trick is after you wash them the first time, throw them in the dryer with a pair of clean shoes or something else with some weight that’s dryer safe. Soft hankies from day one.

I personally like the hankies that come via Mr. Snuff. I have a weeks worth. No special attention needed when washing and they come out clean.

I use ripped-up tee shirts that have already been thru’ millions of wash cycles so are very soft. But then I’m just a peasant at heart.

I use old shop rags that are blue in color. They’re clean but have a few grease stains from cars.
