I found some great plaid handkerchief from a US mail order store, I don’t know if they ship international or not but I will contact them to see if they do. These are the best I have ever used. They advertise guaranteed not to chafe. So far I have found this true. They are super soft and real absorbent. They seem to work a lot better than the normal snuff hankerchief. 6 PK Plaid Handkerchiefs Also some others that work very well from a mail order military surplus catalog called Sportsmans Guide. They have 2 styles one is a pack of brand new 20 large 33x33" inches in olive drab. The other is a pack of 5 brand new normal size Swedish Military Hankerchiefs. Of the 2 the Swedish ones work best. Your welcome Smarvy, I hope you find that you like them as much as I do! To the rest of the board members: The first link for Deluth Trading Co. say THEY DO SHIP INTERNATIONALLY!!! I sent them an email and here is what the sent me in response: Place your order through deluthtrading.com. When your order is received, we will calculate the applicable shipping charges for the order. An email will be sent to you outlining the charges for the order including the shipping and processing fee. At that time we will ask you to verify your billing and shipping addresses and give us your approval to go ahead and ship the order. When we receive your approval, the order is processed and delivery should occur within 4-6 business days via FedEx International shipping.
Deluth Trading Co. now has the holiday pattern handkerchiefs in along with the original plaid. They come in 6pk and are 16"x16" and extra soft, extra absorbent cotton. Holiday Hanky
Now you tell me! I ordered a 12 pack of 14x14 “bandanas” from wholesaleforeveryone.com last night. I found these at the snuffboxthenasalsnuffclub site…database, snuff accessories. I’m pretty sure handkercheifs from duluth would be way better but now I’m wondering just how bad they will be. Has anyone tried these?
I have not yet tried ones from wholesale for everyone yet. I have looked through the selection before. With the 100% cotton bandanas it is hard to say until you get them. I have ordered some that were soft as an angels kiss and others were as rough as a porcupines butt. The soft ones tend to be a lot thicker and more absorbent. Some of the rough ones were labeled 100% cotton but felt more like polyester or canvas. These are the ones that usually have the design silk screened on with ink so the design is raised from the handkerchief and you can feel it when you run your finger over it. The good ones just have a different color thread for the design. If the ones you get happen to be the soft variety please let us know how they are. Did you get a paisley pattern? I bought a 6 pack from Deluth back in June and made the post right after that. And they are great. The guarantee not to chafe has proven true. I expect these to last a long time.
if any one intresed…i can send from india…new business…ha! ha!!!
Troutstroker, I went with solid black. I wasn’t sure if there would be noticeable staining on a paisley pattern as I’ve never had a proper washable handkerchief before. I’ll be sure to let you know how they feel when I get them. The price was reasonable at $8.21 including shipping. Unfortunately, usually you get what you pay for…we’ll see.
I like the paisley pattern, reminds me of days past. I prefer the navy blue, black or dark brown paisley. No matter which you go with though it should wash out clean, no stains. But its all a matter of preference on pattern.
I forgot to mention if anyone orders from Deluth, enter code: T27PK8X during checkout for a free deluth hat! They are nice hats, not those cheap trucker hats.
Got the handkercheifs (bandanas) yesterday. They seem to be fine. Definately better than a paper towel! lol I’m still not too sure what to compare it to though since I’ve never had a quality handkercheif. They’re alright on the nose but I’m still interested in trying the deluth ones with the no chafe guarantee someday. I did send an email to wholesaleforeveryone.com since a dozen for them seems to be a couple short of a bakers dozen. (only eleven) We’ll see what they have to say for themselves.
The first thing you want to do is to wash them and use a fabric softener sheet in the dryer or liquid softener. This will fluff the cotton and get rid of that new fabric stiffness. You have to do the same thing with the Deluth ones.
Got a response from wholesaleforeveryone.com. They are sending me the missing 12th bandana. Seems to be a pretty good company to deal with. Troutstroker, yes, I washed them immediately after opening. Made in China. No offense to the Chinese but I wasn’t about to put anything to my face that was likely made in a Chinese sweatshop. For that matter, I won’t wear any new clothes until after I wash 'em, regardless of where they came from.
Yeah these days there may be lead in the thread if it comes from China. Unfortunately almost all the handkerchiefs and bandanas these days are imported from China.
did u know the 92% of products exported and labeled MADE IN CHINA are actually made else where. there goverment remarks all products imported into china as"made in china" before it is resold and exported. so most of the stuff you own is not made in china. i watched a whole show on this, on msnbc or something like that not to long ago, and was very suprised.
Thanks to Troutstroker tipping me off to a free shipping special I was able to convince “santa” to get me both the blue and red plaid handkerchiefs from deluth. They are real nice and well worth the price if you can get free shipping. I was somewhat skeptical as to what they would look like due to the crummy pictures in the deluth catalogs and red or blue plaid just sounds bad to me, fortunately they don’t at all look like blue or red plaid as I would picture them from that description. Softer than the wholesaleforeveryone.com bandanas and classier. I do still recommend the wholesaleforeveryone bandanas as they are plenty soft, cheap, and being a little thicker can handle a lot more with less soak through. Happy to have both to choose from. Thanks for suggesting these TS.
I love the hankies from Deluth! Of course, the price for these simple, yet soft, pieces of fabric plus shipping was a bit steep for me. Lucky for me I shave with a straight razor, so I added an alum block to my order as well. My only regret is that I didn’t order more of the hankies.
Well if you ever order again, there are all sorts of coupon codes scattered on the internet. Just do a google search next time. Some for a certain % off, others give you a free gift, some free shipping.
I use the one’s from deluthtrading.com now, but the best handkerchiefs I have ever used was from a friend who brought them back from the UK, (yes he’s one of those UK guys) Those were the very best handkerchiefs I have ever used, but he says he can’t find them anymore.
