I was just curious to know if there was anyone else out there that perhaps had any forms, brands, ect. of tobacco that they either know are overrated or ridicule worthy, but yet still enjoy using them. I know that this thread is in the other tobacco category, however, you can also include snuffs as well.

I for whatever odd reason really like the Gurkha Grand Reserve cigars. I know that for the price and point they really are not worth it. Unfortunately, I am a sucker for Remy Martin and the fact that these bad boys are soaked in Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac really makes them appealing. I am a sucker for big budget marketing or novelty, maybe? While many cigar purests might call me a poser, I do not care I really like these damn things.

Give me something dipped in Hennessy and I would say the same as you. I guess my true guilty pleasure is Poschl President snuff though. Its such a standard snuff. They barely sell any other snuff where I live so you sort of get the impression that it’s overrated or boring or something, even pretentious, I dont know. But I absolutely adore that snuff. So easy, fluffy texture, strong nicotine, thick dark tobacco base, lovely menthol and related herb aromas. You just can’t go wrong with it and you never get sick of it.

B

nope. I enjoy what I enjoy. Only other people can over rate something.

I use to get my wife to go to the store and buy me a pack of Misty rose’s every now and then…which I would obviously only smoke at home…As for any other tobacco? Nah, I like what I like as far as everything else goes.

Parodi cigars, great to chew on while surf casting for bluefish.

Love Parodi Cigars, for the price and point they are excellent. I guess you could say that is another guilty pleasure that I have.

I feel the same way about Lowen Prise, very basic and pleasant, not particularly complex or challenging, however, love that snuff to death. I do not care what anyone says. I have gone so far to want to purchase one of those 10 pack deals on snusory.com.

Silver Dollar Snuff, I know it is very basic. However, it is what gave me my start.

One snuff that´s not very popular around here but that I love is Poschl - Gawith Apricot, my first experience with snuff and one that I always carry with me.

I just remembered that I used to love Villiger cigars. I think most cigar smokers would frown upon that, lol… It’s been at least 10 years since I smoked them, but I seem to recall that they were light, smooth and offered a hint of vanilla to their taste. You got a lot of bang for your buck on them, they were easy to enjoy and yet rich and satisfying at the same time. They are like the Coca-Cola of cigars and were presented at the kiosks cheaply so… and I love them the same way I love Jack Daniels which if you ask me - is the coke of Whisky. Honestly I’ve yet not smoked a cigar I’ve liked as much as I remember liking Villigers, even though I’ve tried high end cigars.

Nothing wrong with that. If anything I am embarrassed to admit that I have never tried one. If you still smoke cigars I say lit one up for old time’s sake.

M

Yeah… I’m not too intrigued about cigars anymore, even though I am slightly more prone to buy one (usually a cheap kiosk one) than most people. It happens once in a blue moon these days. Especially on vacation and if the moment calls for it… I haven’t seen Villigers in ages though…

I know, I know… but it’s Sir Walter Raleigh for me… have to have it now and again… my Grandad was the best custy they’ve ever had (you should see the empty tins/baggies in his old shop) so it’s mostly in remembrance of him (he died when I was away in the Army in 1996)… anyhow, that’s my guilty one and hey, I love it

Similarly, I actually LIKE Prince Albert pipe tobacco especially on a warm Summer night.

P

Opus x (regular line) robustos Diamond crown (Maximus, Julius Caesar Newman, and their CT wrappers), and Padron 1926 Perfecto # 1. Many people will point out that there are better deals to be had in terms of cigars, I like them anyway. I guess you could say that I am a poser for liking them, so what. Those are my rare occasion stogies. By no means am I a pretentious cigar smoker.

P

Kreteks. I use to smoke them on occasion back when they were “cigarettes” here in the USA. Now that they are “cigars”, I still to this day grab a pack on occasion. I have always considered them to be in their own category of tobacco product. Which is why even though I am done with “conventional” American cigarettes, if I could get genuine Kretek cigarettes I would still smoke them. Nothing quite like the state of mind and the style of cognition that transpires when you smoke them, at least for me any way. I wrote some of my best papers in college after smoking kreteks.

P

Gitanes Brunes- the best posion i recall. Red Rose tea- i got through a gallon iced daily. Also, as of late, really heady incense; makes me fondly recall my miss spent youth. Tea and most insence being of leaf orign; i feel i remained in the confines of the topic.

Ashton Esquires, love these little suckers. The remind me quite a bit of the bigger older brothers. If you don’t have the time for a VSG, CT shade, Ct Broad leaf, ESG, etc. grab yourself a tin. By the way these are not cigarillos in the traditional sense , so you are going to need a cigar clipper (they are basically Ashton’s answer to Macanudo Ascots).

Well, I go through about three 14oz. tubs of Carter Hall a year, mostly smoked in my MM Diplomat and Patriot cobs (with Forever stems). It’s pretty plain-Jane tobacco, but is never bad, sometimes awesome and almost smokes itself, so it is perfect for the commute pipe.
