Green Tea?

I personally love the smell of green tea leaves, are there any snuffs that come close? I’ve found coffee flavored snuffs but not green tea ones.

Lorillard has a grassy note to it

As far as my limited knowledge goes there is no actual green tea flavored varieties though it has been suggested several times…

You can certainly add your own green tea powder. You may even get a little caffeine lift from it.

last time I had some dean swift deans own it had a somewhat green tea like scent to it. That was years ago so who knows. I do know trying to infuse green tea scent into snuff doesn’t work the tobacco over powers it. Though an oo-long that is green will have impart a green tea like scent to snuff. Faint but noticable. I’ve had success with wetting a few piece of the tea loose leaf of course. Leave the leafs in a plain snuff over night. Oh wet the leaf so it’s pliable. That might work.

I often think of a chai style snuff but that is made with black tea

Dunno if it’d work, but one can buy small (1 dram-ish size) vials of green tea extractum, just like the vials of ginseng extract…

Your best bet would probably be to buy loose tea (loose tea is a higher quality than you get in tea bags anyway) and a coffee mill. That way you can grind it to whatever consistancy you want.

yes loose tea is much better and cheaper too.

I know you’re not arguing with me, and I’m not with you. I just want to mention that the extract could give you a stronger hit of tea- and it’ll only cost you a dollar or so. But maybe it’s true that you get less aroma than flavor, IDK. Just food for thought…

I think extract would work and I also think if you took a tea bag, cut it open & placed it in a small bowl, added 1 ounce of water then microwave it of about 4 minutes. When done dump this into a coffee filter over a mug (because a glass might break) and drain & press. You would have a heavy scent of tea to moisten the snuff with. Might work and I am sure these items you already own. At least you will know what direction to head and if it is even worth it to you

Thanks for the tea press idea, @MattheFox! I’d love a snuff that smells like Japanese Genmaicha… I might try it out!

@TobaccyLassy I am collecting the ingredients to make a Chai Snuff

@MattheFox I recommend going light on the cloves as they can be overpowering. Other ingredients that will go well in the masala would be black pepper and nutmeg. I suggest making up a masala and snuffing it straight to check its flavor before adding it to a tobacco flour.

Good evening, mes amies Have you thought of adding Japanese Mattcha Tea to your snuff? This us the tea used for the tea ceremony “Cha no Yu” . It comes ground as fine as flour, usually on stone hand mills and is probably the most typical/traditional green tea available. Far older than green teas in leaf shape. Mattcha preparation was invented in the Chinese Song Dynasty and later imported to Japan. It is considered very healthy. Mattcha powder is typically absolutely natural, no additives or oreservatives and usuallly “organic”. Mattcha has a very distinct ‘green’ flavour and taste and a beautiful bright green colour. You could probably snuff it directly - something I will try myself as soon as having restocked. Do not use the Starbucks variant, it is not traditional. Go to a Japanese supermarket or attend a tea ceremony. Best regards Patrick B. Ludwig

@Ludwig_1954 I’m sure looking at adding Mattcha to plain snuffs. I absolutely love the earthy grassiness of it. And I’d love to be able to enjoy the scent of Mattcha without having to sit in in seiza every time I put the snuff in my nose.

Thats very interesting ill have to get some sometime

Kanna snuff is nice

Have some ounces of tea leaves here that aren’t really nice in drinking but the smell is great. Possibly I will grind them up later and try it as herbal snuff on it’s own. Tea leaves take up other surrounding scents very quickly so mixing isn’t an option. The Mattcha tea powder they mentioned above is very, very expensive and I don’t trust the website they sell it on here.
