I just got one of these a cheap impulse sealer off eBay cost 15 USD and now I can heat seal my snuff tins individually in small bags only takes a second and the bags are foil lined Mylar (the ones used for freeze dried meals) so there completely moisture and air tight I think they will keep snuff fresh pretty much indefinitely. If your interested do a quick search on eBay “impulse sealer”
I’ll have to check that out.
Nice idea. I still use the old kitchen classic stretch-wrap-film-foil with generosity, my stash is individually heavily wrapped, it could sit at the bottom of the ocean for a few years. If I would own a garden I would immediately bury it to free some space indoors.
Is this so much better than ziplock type bags ? I got 100 big that just fit a 10g tin for 10 ILS ( about 2.5 USD )
My local pot shop uses these for the dime bags. They do come in variety of mil thicknesses. I use the military grade big ones to store bulk Mountain House freeze dried meals in potions. I think they are 7.5 or 8 mil. Warning, don’t add any iron pks.or you snuff will dry up to dust!
the big difference between this setup and zip bags is foil bags are not gas permeable. Zip bags are not actually air tight
This concept is very good but tight dark heavy glass jars with tight lids still is best!
@nicmizer - Certainly the most aesthetically pleasing option, anyway!
im sure this has been asked a million times before but are the bulk F&T tubs any good? i got a 260g container and is the tub good for long term storage? i normally use mason jars for storage
@peacock I wonder the same thing. I’ve got a whole mess of bulk tubs now. The McChrystal bulk tubs were obviously not up to snuff (pardon the pun), but the Wilsons tubs seem higher caliber.
@JasonC is this what you are talking about

and were the foil bags you use something like this
They look like a good price. I’m not sure if these foil bags would work. I have never used a impulse sealer.
Yes that’s is them you can also get Mylar foil bag rolls so you can make bags of any size and that is even cheaper per bag. The best thing about the foil bags is they are completely air tight. They are used for MRE’s, long term food storage glass is great but takes up to much room and you can seal a bag in less then two seconds.
