Sir Johnny does it again! This is a really brilliant snuff and quite unique. I’ve tasted tobacco like this in a pipe, some Cornell and Diehl oriental forward tobaccos, but I’ve never come across it in snuff before. I really appreciate the back drip on this one, you taste the bitter-sweet, smoky flavor of the tobacco as much as you catch the scent. I enjoyed it with a very tasty sweet California orange on the side. My only complaint is it doesn’t come in a fifty gram tin. Still got the Latakia to look forward to. Johnny seems to be going through a phase with tobacco varietals - perique, Latakia, Turkish are all on his list. I hope he tries a nice, naturally sweet Virginia soon. With his passion for good ingredients, we might hope for a good, well aged one. Come to think of it, it would be a cost effective way of using a very rare and expensive Virginia. I don’t really appreciate them in a pipe, they bite my tongue. But grab a tin of the Golden Horn!
Perique? I might have to splurge on that one!
Latakia Blend replaced Thrice Brewed as my favorite SWS. It tastes like the retrohale on a nicely slow smoked bowl of HH Vintage Syrian.
@Hitsuzen, I’d have to say, when I heard about Thrice Brewed, I was really excited, but it for me the reality didn’t live up to my expectations. I expected the flavor and scent to be more intense. Not a bad snuff, by any means, but not up to the usual SWS standard for me.
Thrice posted about Thrice Brewed. Coincidence?
Oops, I ruined the joke by removing the duplicates before I read this post. Sorry! Justin (Mod.)
@JakartaBoy there have been some serious variances in batches. The second time I picked some up was nowhere near as good as the first, and so on. I can say the batch available right now in the UK is a pretty good representation of the first batch, now unfortunately their last.
Is Johnny going to stop making Thrice Brewed ?
