So, this weekend I drove down from Jersey to Virginia for a camping and 4-wheeling weekend. Awesome trip, but that’s a different story. I had seen here on Snuffhouse that Food Lion groceries typically carry snuff, especially in the Appalachian. So today, at the end of my trip, I decided to drop in the Food Lion near Winchester, VA to see if the rumors were true. Oh. The rumors are true. I’ve never seen so much US dry snuff in one place ever in my life. No question, most were sweet – and I have no interest in that. But I did manage to pick up 4.65oz tub’s of Bruton, Dental Mild, and Superior, along with a 1.15oz of Square. Interestingly, the Bruton and the Superior both had ‘the warnings’, but the Dental Mild was un-warned, suggesting it’s new-old-stock. I guess I should have bought more Dental Mild, since I think it’s discontinued, but I was already walking out the door with a year’s supply for less than $60 bucks, and I’m no collector, just an avid user. I will post a pic immediately following this post, but I wanted to share that there is good snuff to find in VA. Thanks to those who’ve mentioned Food Lion as a good potential source for snuff. Worked out for me! Again, wait 5 min for pics, they’re on my phone and it’s easier to add a post from my phone than transfer them.

As promised…

That is awesome. I have never seen the big tin of Bruton but the 4.65oz is the only size that I can get Superior in my area.

Lol - I think i need to take a pic of the Food Lion counter just to add some depth to this thread. I will try to swing by one of the 7 Food Lions ( !! ) I pass between home and work tomorrow…

Virginia. The Uncommon Commonwealth.

I was just in both Georgia and California and was pleased to see snuff in tobacco shops in both states. Granted, California offered just a few options but a nice shop did have a selection of Toque along with some scotches. Georgia had snuff in both the grocery and convenience stores.

One of many great reasons for me to move down south. It’s funny how the kinds of snuff that are perfect in for cold winter weather are sold where winter doesn’t last from at least November well into April.

The American snuff tins have a sparse but sharp looking style all their own, don’t they? I was working in Winchester today, and there’s no snuff I know of to be had there, but it’s a long way from the one you were in!

Aside from my town, which is a ski resort and has some Toque and Silver Dollars, the rest of Colorado is a snuff desert. The only kind they have are Copenahgen and other types of “chew”.
