Glass snuff jars

I’ve ordered some snuff in bulk and have been looking for glass jars with a screw down lid. Could not find anything suitable. And then I bought some JACOBS coffee in a 100g jar. I only realised afterwards that this will make a perfect snuff jar. Today I went back to the same shop and bought an even more beautiful bottle containing TCHIBO coffee. Both bottles have proper screw down lids and look very good on my shelf. Now I’m only waiting for the snuff to arrive. As I’m pretty sure this coffee must be available all over the globe, I thought I would share this with our members. I have no shares in either of the coffee companies!!!

Pieter, what about the bail jars they sell for pasta? I use them for pipe tobacco, they seal well with a rubber gasket and a metal spring clip. You can boil them out when you change ingredients.

Pieter - It’s ironic that you brought this topic up. I very recently began to take snuff from some small glass vials I found at specialtybottle.com. If you look under their glass bottles section you’ll see what I’m referring to. I don’t have the need yet to store large quantities of snuff but needed a replacement for the bullets I’ve been using. I found snuffing from my thumbnail more convenient and enjoyable than either taking snuff directly from the bullet or the back of my hand. I’m not big on the pinch just yet. Since I’m a fan of glass or metal in favor of wood, these vials are perfect for that purpose. They’re small and not overly more expensive than the aluminum tins I’ve seen available and are available in clear glass as well as blue and green (I use a few of different colors to keep track of what I’m carrying). They’re also relatively air tight and travel well in the pocket. I can carry more than I use throughout the day easily. I’ve accidentally dropped a few and they seem to be pretty rugged. More along the line of what you’re referring to however is their line of “candle jars” that are much larger and have the familiar glass top/plastic stopper. I think you might find them cheaper than what you’re probably paying for similar containers that have coffe in them. (Although I’m sure the coffee isn’t going to waste, lol)

“As I’m pretty sure this coffee must be available all over the globe, I thought I would share this with our members.” I’ve never seen or heard of either Jacobs or Tchibo coffee !

Snuffbox, we do have some of those jars in the house but, my brother, that’s a bit big for what I have!!! I’ve ordered 200g plastic bags and I reckon the coffee jars will do just fine. But I will remember the “pasta jars” when I move into top gear and start ordering LARGE amounts of snuff. Or, maybe, start “manufacturing” heaps of snuff. LOL

I found my perfect glass jars at a German online shop. Small, air tight and with a big opening

Alex, that’s what I’m looking for!! I will keep on searching until I find something like yours. Problem is, with our terrible exchange rate, it will cost me a fortune to import things like that. So I will have to buy it locally.

I searched quite a while for them. One costs 2 Euros: http://glaeserundflaschen.de/product\_info.php?info=p624\_Drahtbuegelglas--125-ml.html If you need help, let me know.

Thanks very much Alex. I still want to search some more. If I don’t find any, I will make use of your offer. Much appreciated!! Kind regards Pieter

Yes, those are what I was talking about. The small size is much better than the 1kg pasta size!

Found a great bulk snuff container in Bed Bath and Beyond. Good Grips Pop Container that holds .5 Quarts which turns out to be perfect for 200 grams of snuff. It costs $9.99. Air tight and easy to open and close with a popper in the middle. Try it.

Today really was my day!! My wife found some of the small “pasta” jars. They are beautiful though a bit expensive at R9.95 each. I bought 2 to start off with but will definately get some more. Storage space is really becoming a problem now, especially with all the snuff I’ve received today! I will have to make a plan and quick.

I use a small glass decanter that I bought at Wal-Mart for $2. I need to get a few more for my expanding homemade collection.

I also bought these a few weekends back. They work great. Bead Storage Jars
