Getting snuff in the US?

R

Hey all, I’ve mostly been lurking and through this website I was lead to Mr. Snuff where I placed an order. However I’m looking for a place in the US I might be able to order from for a faster turn around? I can’t find any one who sells in my local area of Denver Colorado. Thanks!

J

Hey @Red5angel, try Old Mill. They’re in Tennessee. Pm @chefdaniel he is the Proprietor. His snuff is insane.

J

Btw, turn around is 2 days

R

Awesome, thanks!

J

little brown smoke shack online has 20 or so snuffs

S

786  There’s also:
http://www.smokes-spirits.com/StoreDetails.aspx/Tobacco/Dry+Snuff/opt/store/16/category/374
whom I haven’t dealt with, and
http://hookah1.com/HOOOKAH2/index.php?route=product/category&path=6\\_21
Both outfits only sell snuff in bulk quantities but the prices are good (especially Hookah1).  Also, Hookah1’s turn-around time is a bit on the slow side, not because of the shipping–that’s pretty quick in the US–but because they take a couple few days to fill and ship the order.

R

Thanks!

J

Gotta say I’ve ordered a few times from smokes and spirits- electronic cheque. Kinda weird set up but never had an issue and got boxes of American scotch. Good luck! Or go to Marietta GA to Food Depot #27 and have the locals giggle whilst you buy $100 worth of 1/4 pound tubs

B

Toque deliveries are faster normally.  http://www.toquesnuff.com/

M

Hey jmahes do they have starr up at the Food Depot. I can get about any scotch I care to try here in Canton. No Starr though. I get to Marietta often enough, I could pop in on the FD no problem.

J

@markmcsnuffin, When I went in July I unfortunately  did not see Starr, but like you, saw a bunch of others.
Starr is some good Scotch!!

B

http://www.lilbrown.com/c-1163-dry-snuff.aspx check if they ship to your state.

B

https://www.mcchrystals.co.uk/ has a limited selection they can ship to USA. Prices are good and shipping is also good $. And free with big orders around $20 give and take the  daily exchange rate.

B

http://gadsdenmill.wixsite.com/ourmill/varieties-and-menu in the USA. Don’t know if he has any?

B

http://www.snuifmolenswebshop.nl/Webwinkel-Category-506013/Snuff-tobacco.html Has a strange payment system, But you will get fresh from the mill. Also they come in reusable flip top snuff boxes. That are worth more than the snuff alone. When your looking to buy snuff boxes. Hurry Snuff Windmill is being sold and the future of this brand may soon be unavailable .

U

@slobandtom I’ve heard horrible things about Smokes-spirits.com. A quick Google search will show numerous accounts of unfulfilled orders and shoddy customer service. I’d be hesitant to place an order with them.

A

Is there a quicker or cheaper way of getting some dholakia white to illinois than Mr. Snuff? Service is great, but that shipping… I just missed the free shipping offer, and my wife told me i was going to be in trouble if I ordered another 50 bucks of snuff… I have a fifty gram tub of white SOMEWHERE around my house… :(( Also, whats up with toque usa and silver dollar in America, its been a few years now, has it gotten good sales? I went back to an old thread about it and the link to a map wasnt working for me. Also, bulk silver dollar available yet?

D

I am starting to see silver dollar showing up more and more in local tobacco places. Most here in Ventura, California only stock a couple blends, usually raspberry and original for some reason. Half an hour up the coast in Santa Barbara there is a shop that stocks the full line of silver dollar but I have yet to find anywhere that stocks proper toque. Besides that there is a place here in Ventura that consistently stocks cases of WE Garett regular and sweet Scotch. I do enjoy WE garret and I find the silver dollar original a totally acceptable snuff, in fact I quite enjoy it. However, that is no where near enough selection to make local purchases viable to support my snuff tastes and I also rely on Mr snuff and put up with the shipping. As far as silver dollar in bulk that would be a question for Roderick because I do not believe it is currently sold in a bulk form although Roderick seems a very accommodating individual if that were something you would want.

A

WE Garret is the only snuff i can find locally (springfield il), Maybe tube rose. I love scotch, and toasts, but damn, somtimes usa snuffs leave me wanting someting more complex…

D

Yes, US snuffs are rather simple in their flavor profile and the range of flavor to work with. If your only goal is to maintain a nicotine dose then they fit the bill quite well. Other than that, one does tire of the limited range of flavors very easily. However, I have found that they are good to keep in your rotation because their simple flavors serve to be highlighted throughout the day if you are taking a break from some complex floral or rich peaty rappee. The fine grind is also a good chaser for coarser snuffs if that’s your thing.

A

I have been using we garret in my rotation, its a little too smokey for me i think though. In my mess of old snuff i found in that other thread we were talking in that i found a plastic 1.5 ounce of some burtons. It was a nice find. Now if i could only find my rooster. And my DW. Might just have to bite the bullet and get some more DW and try some white elephant while im at it. Til then, im gonna focus on my latest toque order i guess. Im really grooving on the sp extra. Again. Almond. Marmalade. Peanut Butter. Bacon and cheese… (i lost that around the house also. Jesus i think its time to uber clean)

D

I have not tried dholakia white yet though I enjoy the black and plan on doing so in the near future. I have tried 41 photo white elephant and that stuff is very very nice. The grind is absolutely ridiculous, almost like a gas, but it can be done with practice without railing it in to your lungs haha. Nicotine is not as severe as the hype I had heard, but it is certainly not weak either and I have a fairly high nicotine tolerance.

A

The dholokia white is nice for work, because i can snuff a tad and blast off in the stock room and not worry about a majorly runny mess of a nose when i come back out to the sales floor.

P

@Rodrick, thanks for the explanation. @DTOM7476, I grew up mostly in your neck of the woods. From Goleta to Oxnard and a few places on between. Sorry for derail.

D

Haha no need for apologies, that’s pretty cool to hear. Oxnard has a ton going on and Goleta is beautiful. I grew up as a little one down south a ways in Oceanside but have spent the better part of my life so far in Ventura. Great community.

T

Scotches are pretty much all you can get here in the states without paying over 400.00 dollars a pound for so called Artisan Snuffs, in which are just small batch snuff mills that are Ridiculously Over Priced!!!  Of course this is just my opinion and meant to be took as such. G’Day

Z

@TigerJackshere Try a couple of Daniel’s Old Mill snuffs and I’d wager your opinion would change. Just my opinion

T

@Zanaspus  I have no doubt there great snuffs, but there is no snuff on this planet worth that kind of money , G’Day

P

@TigerJackshere, I wouldnt splurge on a pound of Old Mill snuff as I can’t justify that with the swmbo, however getting a several small tins or a few large tins is good. I can’t speak of other artisan snuff as I’ve never had any others, but Old Mill has some very complex flavors that are simply amazing and worth it. The reason why they are so expensive is that they are small batch and usually use better/more expensive ingredients and usually produced by one person in the case of Old Mill. An analogy I can think of is whiskey. You can get a mass produced bourbon for relatively cheap which can be pretty good, or you can splurge for a small batch whiskey which is more expensive but can be much better. I’d suggest you at least try a few of the small ones. @DTOM7476, when I lived in Ventura I lived by Cabrillo middle school and up on the Avenue. I also lived in Carpinteria and la conchita for a bit.

M

Funny… I was thinking about comparing artisan snuff with craft beer, I don’t drink whisky! There are dozens of microbreweries popping up where I live. I don’t spend the extra money, I’m perfectly happy with my Miller lite! I would NEVER call craft beer “overpriced” just because I don’t wanna spend the extra money. Small batches production of ANYTHING is more labor intensive then something mass produced in a factory. More labor equals higher costs, it’s just basic common sense.

In my dog walking business, occasionally a prospective client will tell me my prices are too high. They’re basically saying (in my mind) that my time has less value than the standard going rate, less than than all my other clients gladly pay.

I find that way of  thinking quite offensive.

T

Like I said I am sure there great snuffs & I would really like at least most of them but I still say there is not a snuff on this planet worth that kind of money, at least to me ,I can understand them maybe being as much as double price & that’s pushing it! but over 400 a pound is crazy!! I don’t mind spending a couple hundred dollars on snuff at a time, but I expect my monies worth, my moneys worth is not necessarily your monies worth.  G’Day

S

@TigerJacksHere, I agree with Psicko and Zanaspus.  I’m tempted to pick up a small tin for you in my next Old Mill order to see if we can’t make a believer out of you yet!  ;)

Hmmm… tricky one. I don’t pay premium prices for snuffs, as I personally don’t feel any benefit for doing so - many other people do. It’s all about perceived value, and that perception is in the eye of the beholder. Examples: I only buy cheap wine. My palatte isn’t refined enough to benefit for fine wines. I only buy cheap tobacco pipes. The most I’ve ever paid is 25 UK pounds, and I feel satisfied with my purchases. I’m not going to pay premium money for something that someone spent two whole days working on, for me to just burn some vegetation in it. I DO buy real ales from micro breweries, but not exclusively. I also buy cheap mass produced beers too. I appreciate both. Vodka will be the cheapest stuff on the shelf, while whisky must be single malt and (funds permitting) I’ll gladly pay up to 3 to 4 times the price of the bottle of vodka. If I feel I get a benefit for paying the premium, then I will - otherwise it can stay where it is. However, I try not to let my personal tastes become judgemental or critical of other peoples preferences.

M

Everyone is certainly entitled to spend their own money as they see fit. I’ve never bought any of the artisan snuffs so I have no way to judge if they’re worth the cost.

P

i haven’t gotten any artisan snuffs either but that is because i want to cover the gambit of regular priced snuffs for now as ive only been snuffing since last december. im thinking about putting my next order in to old mills though. i think my palate maybe ready for it.

As for my opinion, i usually go for the cheaper stuff with my tobacco and booze because i am a simple man and have simple tastes. i will, however, pay extra for my cheaper products to support small businesses. i dont know if that makes any sense but as an example: i will go to a mom and pop owned liquor store to buy my coors light and pay more than what i would pay at a winco or other major chain.

C

new to site.i am very lucky to live in NC  and snuff is not hard to find but only American.since we cant get good foreign snuff here I have looked at Mrsnuff.com. but shipping with a tracking number is really high! is it worth the money or can you go for the lower shipping? I have seen post that say American is quite dry and plain in comparison so am eager to try some.is there an American snuff similar to any foreign snuff.thanks

S

@Chad yes! Foreign snuff is very different. I have ordered from Mr snuff and Toque. They both could and probably will take a week or a little longer to get to you. Using regular shipping. But, it’s well worth it. Good luck in your snuff adventures.

M

I’ve gotten snuffs here from mr snuff in about a week and some change tops. The expensive shipping for a tracking label is pretty high but worth it. Also in the past, I made some orders without shipping and arrived in a prompt time. No hassles.

I will be considering doing another order soon for the Ozona Orange. A whole box would be expensive but truely worth every penny.

J

@chad13 I live in NC myself. While I do buy some snuffs at the grocery store, I still order from Mr Snuff and have started ordering from Toque as well. Shipping costs are not that much, especially since you are getting awesome snuffs. The local snuffs are blended to be used orally and arent that great in the nose, although I find Superior to be good. Besides, looking forward to snuff in the mailbox is great.

T

@JosephJames  Levi Garrett is a Scotch that is hard to beat , it reminds me of the British Toast’s, G’Day

L

How long has anybody had to wait to get snuff directly from toque. It will be 3 weeks come monday. I had a paper in mailbox saying that our mail truck had been in an accident and it caught on fire. I don’t think it was our mail truck

J

@Llo My Toque order was placed October 26. It arrived yesterday (November 4). My longest wait was about 15 days on a Mr Snuff order.

L

Normally my mrsnuff orders are 1 week. It probably was my mail truck that burnt down.

J

I hope your snuff wasn’t in that truck!!

L

Never mind. Wife just texted me that in came in mail today.

M

I can almost always get a Toque order in six business days.  Mr snuff takes two to four weeks to get to me.

J

USPS is probably as good as the person doing the work. Might even be a slothful person in customs. Some government workers do a good job and some are very lazy. I have seen several news stories about postal workers keeping the mail at their homes or dumping it. First Class mail domestically is 3 days. They seem to be consistent in that. I just sent two members snuff Friday. We shall see if the 3 days holds up.

L

@roderick just got back in town to try my new snuff. Sir this is the best natural toast that I have ever had! There will more on order soon.

M

I know that our warehouse ships the next business day (or same day if the order is in by 12 noon GMT) unless there is something out of the ordinary (bulk orders of F&T or Wilsons’ for example) in which case the order is shipped the day after the issue is sorted out.

After that it is totally out of our hands. As Roderick points out, it seems pretty random. Presumably customs and mail person dependent.

T

USPS is a very good mail service, although there will be a glitches from time to time as has been mentioned.G’Day

L

As I am waiting on my new snuff order to come in, I just got a childhood memory. I had sea monkeys and they ran out of food. Found an ad in a comic book for sea monkeys. So I sent a check my mom gave me to them for more food. About 12 to 14 weeks later, I got one small package the size of a sweetner package of food. Needless to say the sea monkeys had been dead the whole time waiting for food.
