So, I have a tube of W.E. Garrett Sweet Scotch, and XX Scotch. And there’s little “balls” in the tubes. I break them up when I put the snuff in my box, but later it clumps again. The little balls make it hard to sniff from my hand. Thoughts?

Only fill your box about 3/4 full and then give it a good shake before you open it (every time.) The wooden snuff boxes with a slide off cover are ideal for this because you know that your box is not going to pop open, even if you give it a violent shake. Do you stick your fingers into your tube or snuffbox to extract snuff? If you do, then skin oils may be getting into your snuff.

I haven’t had the sweet do that yet, but every can of the scotch I’ve had has done the same thing. I pinch my snuff so the balls break up before I snort it. The only advice I have is to break them up with your fingers when you transport the snuff to the back of your hand. You might also get a Molens dispenser. These have a grate in the opening to break up clumps as you fill the space behind the flip-top. I can’t really say if the spacing of the grate is fine enough for Garrett or not though. Might be worth a shot.

Hmm. Usually when I take a pinch of a scotch, they just crumble in my fingers. The only other solution I use is a snuff spoon. Sometimes when my snuff gets clumpy, I use a snuff spoon to break it up.
