getsnus now taken over by the northerner

This may interest those those who order from getsnus.

What!? : ( more info please!

That’s it. Visit the site.

I’ll admit that I never ordered from Northerner. I do hear both bad and good things about them, so I have no personal judgement myself. This might be a good time as any to wing myself off of snus and use only nasal snuff as my fix. I guess the whole secrecy and sneaky move just left a bad taste in my mouth, but I figured that was more getsnus’ fault more than anyone else’s. I knew the higher prices was coming, just didn’t know it would be this soon. Very upsetting.

Well, overall it doesn’t bother me, that they did not publicly announce their business in advance, I know we like to know what’s always going on, but maybe it was best for them to not, as I think they are preparing for post-Pact business. Northerner is a well respected company, so they basically overtook the getsnus website, but it’s Northener’s USA warehouse stock, so it should be the same as when ordering from Northerner. They do now have items getsnus didn’t, even some Poschl snuff, and American dip and chew. I don’t know if they will implement the getsnus free mystery can, but they have this points system that many like. I don’t think they will have the free shipping after so much, but then I never ordered that much to use it anyway.

Northerner are good, but they do make a lot of mistakes (sending the wrong snus, or leaving things of the order). Fortunately they always rectify problems quickly and in good faith if you e-mail them.

I wonder if my Northener points will transfer to this new getsnus site? I doubt the mystery can deal still exists.

I am okay with it. Maybe we can order snuffs from Getsnus like with Northerner. Although, I don’t really care for Snuson now that it is essentially a big wet kiss for Northerner. EDIT: Blah, all they have are Poschl’s. However, the prices on chew are great. Even some Stokers on there.

You got that right, cstokes! I was a little disappointed with the Porschl’s selection as well. Labeled as American snuff??..m’kay…

I only ever used Getsnus and Northerner, I guess they will combine my accounts? Getsnus and Buysnus were both owned by Swedish Match, right? I never understood why they had two US distributors, although I never used Buysnus since they would not ship to my State. Northerner already had a US warehouse, its had those Pöschls for some time. Those are the US distributed Pöschl brands. Northerner sent a can I did not order in my last huge order. It was the first mistake they made in my favor. I neglected to tell them about it. :stuck_out_tongue: They do always correct their errors if you tell them.

I really didn’t use Getsnus much, so I’m not going to miss it. Frederick said they were trying to get the free can deal going if they could. And I don’t think Buysnus was owned by Swedish Match. SM had their own website for European distribution.

Actually, I’ve only used getsnus since I liked the free shipping over $49, the free mystery cans and because I kept hearing about Northerner goofing orders from the folks at the snuson forums (I’m not a member but lurked for a while). However, with PACT looming I figured something like this would happen; so I suppose I’ll try them again in their new guise or what have you…I would suspect that if they continue US operations, though, they’d be hampered by the same regulatory hurdles that sent Dave and Tom over to the UK; the more likely scenario would be just ordering from Sweden and waiting a little longer. It’s not a showstopper, I only order 2 or 3 rolls every few months…

I’m wondering how this post-Pact is going to affect things. The snus sellers are making efforts to comply with Pact, opening a US based distribution/sales, and having FDA compliance to the products. If what the snuff guys are thinking is right, and I hope it is, then why are the snus people doing all this, if they could just stay in Sweden, and sell like they always did. It makes me think someone may be incorrect in their strategy.

@tom502 you have a good point. Northerner is making the oposite of Tom and Dave.

I specifically asked Northerner on snuson, if they would still sell their nasal snuff to the US, and he said that unless the nasal snuff companies comply with FDA regulations, he would not be able to sell them to the US.

More than a few issues with Northerner. Nothing but good deals with Getsnus. This makes me sad. Getsnus most always had Northerner beat on product pricing AND cost and timeliness of shipping as well. Ah well… there’s still SnusCentral to offset Northerner, for now at least.

I’m pretty sure that 99 percent of snuff are not passed by the FDA, so good reason for Tom and Dave to move. The Northerner has never had anything but some poschels in their US inventory. Tom and Dave have better access to even more snuff brands in the UK. Smart move for them. Snuff comes in much smaller packaging than snus, maybe easier to slip through customs.

If Poschls can pass the FDA, certainly others can as well.

You can bet I’ll still be getting my snuff from Roderick. One way or another! Count on it.

Well, Swedish Match and Pöschl are both very big companies; they have the funding to obtain 50 state retailer tax stamps, and SM has big plans to kick PM and RJR right out of the snus market back to Cigland. With all of these states jumping on the public smoking ban bandwagon, I wouldn’t be surprised to see things go Swedish over here. Granted, to a lesser extent since here in the US you can always count on some special-interest group trotting out photos of mouth cancer victims and sending jawless survivors out to middle schools, preaching that any form of tobacco closer than 20 meters’ distance will rot your face off, blah blah blah. If you can find a cause and secure funding for it, you too can be part of the 501(c)3 nonprofit non-working lifestyle. Sigh.
