Hallo, my name is Georg. I am a new member in that forum. But nearly two years I read the discussions nearly every week. I hesitated to become an member of this forum because i did not practice my english for years. I produce the wooden snuffboxes with the ankel cut and the dowel in my free time after the dayly work. You can see them at Snuffstore Uk. I use such boxes by myself an my favorite snuff is Pöschel Schmalzer Doppelaroma. On this place thanks to Alex who helped me to make the boxes popular. The picture shows some of the boxes.

Have you got still some of them availiable? The one in the middle in bottom is hilarious.

How do they work??? Looks like it would be similar to a poscehel box. Really nice work though. P.s. your english seems about as good as mine (american is my native langauge, only a partial joke.)

I have one of these boxes and I love it very much. I carry it nearly every day. Very sturdy- I know it will last forever and it holds a LOT of snuff. Surprisingly large amount.

I got one 3 weeks ago. Works like a charm. Good quality!! I didn’t think that they were that big though. My snuff drys out very quickly. Do you make them any smaller? Maybe for 10g.

I’ll try the water trick. It’s not really a problem. I just reverse the head and all is well. If you have an opprotunity to post a picture of a smaller one and the amount of g it holds that would be great. Again, you make a very quality product.

Nightcap- for that very reason, I only use mine to hold Irish HDT. It will hold enough of that particular snuff for a week because it’s so fine and dry. As you use the box, the peg will become tighter from the snuff. My dog got a hold of mine and put some bite marks in it, but I still like it. Just thought you’d like to know it survived the dog. But the dog almost didn’t survive…just kidding.

The burl wood is very nice.

I was surprised also at first but after checking around…Tim is charging the going rate for those particular boxes. Someone else bought one for 20 Euros according to one thread I read here. Can someone who has one of these beautiful boxes comment on the seal? I have a PC box that I keep Dholakia White in and the seal is tight, no leaks. Is the seal on these boxes tight enough for the white or similar grind scotch for example? I’m thinking about getting one. Thanks.

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but i have had mine for 2+ weeks carrying Dholakia White and the peg has never tightened up. It is so loose that it has fallen out in my pocket and dumped D White in there. I have soaked it in water and that helps, until it dries out, then it goes back to being loose. I have tried turning it around, again, with no success. Any suggestions as to what i can do to tighten it up? Would a different (coarser) snuff be more likely to tighten it?

Hallo yimes. I am the producer of that German Snuffboxes. I am sorry that you have some problems. Generaly I give a two years garantie for the boxes. Sometimes in a dry klima or with very dry snuff the dowel can lose some volume and become loose. Then there are different solutions. 1. to use some water to give the dowel more volume. 2. to use some beewax or carnaubawax for the dowel. 3. to buy a sprucestick ( 1cm diameter) in a market ( in german Baummarkt), so you can cut several dowels. 4. or you can exchange the box. I sent you a new one. I sold around 700 boxes and i am interessted to have satisfied customers. Kind regards Georg

@ Georg, I own two of your boxes and like them quite abit but mine pegs are also a loose fit can you please explain the steps on number 1 and 2 on the above post so i can give them a shot? Thanks and dont get me wrong i love your boxes beautiful work, I just need to find a way to tighting the dowels up a bit! Thx

When is Nicotine Rush going to get some more of these? Now I want one, but they are out of the Zeba Wood. (And yes, I realize that these boxes are not actually made from ground up Zebras).

I am reviving this older thread because I wanted to say that I followed Georg’s advice on how to fix my problem and the beeswax worked like a charm. I did not want anyone researching these boxes on Snuffhouse to see my post and think something was inherently wrong with the boxes. I have since purchased two more of his boxes and they have not needed any modification or wax. For anyone who taps rather than pinches, these boxes are the best!
