A good buddy of mine is going to Germany in a few days and generously offered to pick up some snuff for me. Are there any brands I could tell him to look for? I want something I can’t get on line. Help! Oh Yeah, I hate menthol. Thanks ya’ll.
Maybe one of the shops there will carry Neffa Ifrikia
Sternecker echt Fresco and Sternecker Schmalzler is also a must trySternecker-Schmalzler
What is the german word for snuff out oif interest? Chances are I’ll be going later this year so it would be good to have a bit of background info to aid some snuff hunting (Im also a big liqueur/bitters fan so can’t wait to get my hands on some jagermeister etc for a reasonable price!)Is anyone here german? is snuff widely available over there? Cheers!
Schnupftabak. Or sometimes “snuff”
Is anyone here german? Alex is. I was born there, but I don’t speak the language. Hoping to correct that this summer.
I’ve lived there and speak the language, though I am English.
I’m half German and speak the language.English born though. Stefan
I am German, yes. If anybody happens to visit Hamburg, give me a call! I will happily show him / her around and offer some pinches. The standard, mainly Pöschl, snuffs, are available in usual tobacco stores.
I was in Hamburg 2 weeks ago, will call you next time …Specially Sternecker is very hard to find in tobacco stores.
Thanks Guys. He also knows most of the brands I have and will be looking for other odd brands. Lucky for me he speaks and can read German, so I won’t get any nasty surprises.
SNUFF ME!
Non-menthol ?? Not the Gawith Apricot which I’ve got!!
Yeah apparently it is menthol? It didn’t say anything on the box so i didn’t think it was. And i’m so use to the ozona raspberry i guess after sniffing that religiously for a week the apricot doesn’t burn like it should. Either way it’s still a good snuff. Sorry about the misconception my dudes.
Anything that smells like Vicks is mentol. Even if it’s not labeled.
i definitely didn’t think it smelled like Vicks but to each his own.
Well, when you compare the menthol snuffs to just “mint” snuffs, you can pick up the vick flavor. Not to say that the only thing that the Apricot tasted like was vicks. Now try some Gletscher Pris, that’s 100% menthol.
Poschl’s Gletscher Prise is a menthol snuff to which Columbia oil is added, so it’s not 100% menthol. Check www.gawithhoggarth.co.uk/snuff.asb and www.answers.com/topic/snuff
I didn’t literally mean 100% in the sense of ingredients, but in taste.
So what? Gawith makes Pöschl? I’m confused! I’m looking at the website, but the description pages are down for maintenenance. I tried some Gawith aka Pöschl Apricot this morning after 2 weeks of not trying it. I hate it more now than I did then. This has to be the most god awful snuff ever created by human hands. I was hawking it out of my upper nose and throat for 30 minutes. Ugh! I’m back to nice Toque and some Wilson’s Queens the rest of the morning.
