I came across this excellent video on YouTube, and you know what? It’s my stuffing method of choice very rarely now do I get it to the back of my throat, even with a drier (toque whiskey and honey is about as dry as I’ve tried) snuffs. Give it a go. A splendid video and many thanks for posting it here. It is good to know that there are still some real characters left in the UK. I would love to visit that pub and have a long chat with that gentleman - I am sure he would have some stories to tell. As for his technique I have not tried it - I always use my index finger and thumb. I will have to give his method a go. Thanks again

I saw this the other day. That guy is an OG. Now, about this technique… I’ve been using Tube Rose almost exclusively and I find that if I sniff gently like I had read numerous times, it gets into my throat frequently, but after seeing this again today I’ve been using a deeper and stronger sniff and it seems to be working much better. Which makes sense actually, because it’s fine and dry, so by sniffing gently more of the fine particles will be able to go off on their own to the back of your throat. But, a bigger sniff will take more at once and it stays together a bit better. Love this guy.
Funny enough, thats my uncle. Seriously though, my technique in a nut shell. The blocking of the nostrils is key.
He also gives a very good description what snuff is. Must learn it by heart and let my eyebrows grow!

I noticed he does a strong inhale, yet often I hear “sniff gently” or “sharply and softy”. Im currently using american snuff until my order comes in which is very fine and I find that this method works incredibly well with it, a strong inhale that is. None at the back of throat and surprisingly im not noticing any sinus feeling either. Is this method only good for fine snuffs? If i feel it right under the bridge of my nose, i guess halfway up the nose and it feels like its pocketing nicely there, am I doing it right? lol Any help or comments much appreciated.
I don’t like the bit about sticking your fingers into the snuff… Skin oils (along with whatever else may be on your fingertips) contaminates your whole box. If you are using a moist snuff, then you are introducing all sorts of things to a “dark, warm, moist environment”… We know what sort of things like to grow in “dark, warm, moist environments;” don’t we?
@howdydave for me personally I snuff so quick I never notice the box going bad haha. I really like his technique of using the middle finger. It feels weird pinching that way but it offers you a lot more control when the pinch is at your nose. What I never understood about “polite snuffing” is what to do about blowing your nose. I don’t think there’s an elegant way to expel a giant glob of brown snot!
