Gekachelter Virginie

I have just received 50gs of this snuff in my first order from Rajeks and what a beautiful snuff this is. When i receive new snuff i decant some into the pinching pot i keep on my desk and more often than not most of it goes back in the tin whence it came but not this one. I have finished the entire pot and would dearly love to refill it (high praise indeed) but sadly i have to sample the rest of the order as well. This really is marvelous snuff does anyone else like this one as much as i do ?

@ big al, Don’t know yet, but I have a 1.83kg order pending with Rajek’s and I will certainly add this based on your recommendation. What else did you get? You can whisper me if you want. I’m getting just about every thing I haven’t tried and can’t find elsewhere.

It is an awesome snuff! Mild on the nose, yet high in nicotine and flavor. I love the cow dung scent :o) Absolutely a favorite of mine!

I was thinking about using the Gekachelter Virginie to stretch out my Fienster Kownoer. Thanks for the reminder, I have just the right ox bone bottle ready for that mix. This get’s done tonight!

Hate to necro a thread but I figured it was better than starting a whole new one. This is good snuff! Smokey in a camp-fire sort of way, not the BBQ way of the Scotches or the oaky way of the Toasts. Best taken outside as the scent really “blooms” best that way. It is very coarse and very moist. It comes in an unsealed bag so have a mason-jar or something ready, I used an empty F&T 50g that I washed out. Like every German snuff I’ve tried it is rather weak as far as nicotine goes but it definitely smells nice and that’s what really matters.

If there is such a thing as an all time favourite snuff for me, I think Gekachelter Virginie is it. It goes very well with German beer, too. The only downside is that it loses most of its smoothness when it dries out, so keep it fresh! Recently, I started mixing it with some other class acts (mostly DW and F&T HDT), a thing I thought I’d never do for fear of wasting such a delicious snuff. Luckily, it comes in generous packages and the mixing works out surprisingly well.

Do Rajeks have an online store? I’d like to have a look at the range. thanks in advance.

They used to and I bought quite a lot of German snuff from them in the past, but unfortunately for us they went back to concentrating on pipes. Their site at estatepipes.de/ is just showing a place holder at the moment. I always had great service from them. Other German sites I have used are: snuff-and-more.de/snuffstore.de/onlineshop/top-cigars.de/ The last one was where I managed to get my hands on 10 x 100g sealed foil bags of Bernard’s Brasil Feinst when it looked like Bernard’s was going out of business a few years ago. They weren’t of course, just reorganising themselves.
