it loos to be very dark brown and moist you definitely get the peaty earthy smell but im also detecting something else i dont know if it is ammonia or if it has something else in it tis about as coarse as their tia maria whi i dont really care for. i think i would engoy this more if it was a finer grind and not as moist it seems like the darker brown you get the more moist it is. i wonder why that is is it possible to make a finer grind dryer dark tobacco. its scent fades rather quickly this wouldent be an all day snuff this wis more than likely going to be an every once and a while snuff. i think they gipped me with this one it wasnt all the way full it was about 3 quarters full. i dont know if i would buy this again because of the grind moisture and quickly fading smell i would give this one a 3 out of five. it just is one i neither like or hate just in the middle
Happy to take it off your hands…one of my favorites.
You should try S. Gawith Kendal Brown. It comes in 3 scents, Original, Scented, Special. Theirs is the original KB, recipe dating to the 18th century. Darkish, semi moist, coarse grind. Its the best, or one of, all the Kendal Brown snuffs out there.
@mrmanos what is the difference between the 3 SG’s?
Threw my tub in the bin. Life’s too short to hoard and store in glass jars (more expense) snuffs you don’t like. Their CM is one of the best though.
One of my favourites too. It tends to dry out rather quickly and taking it can become like stuffing coarsely ground black pepper up your bracket. However, I find that occasionally re-moistening it by attaching a dampened 1/2" square of kitchen towel to the top of the tub works a treat. An ex-colleague of mine once took a whiff and suggested the smell is reminiscent of the elephant house at Chester zoo. I think she hit the nail on the head, but I adore the stuff anyway.
An adorable snuff I didn’t liked yet at purchase. But GH is such a craftsmans company. The funny about this snuff is I really can’t name the scent. Mysterious.
This is perhaps my favorite snuff…on a par with top F&T blends like Santo Domingo and Princes for richness and superior quality. Excellent tobacco, lovingly and professionally handled.
SG - KB scented gets my vote of the Kendal browns though I haven’t tried the GH one.
This was one of the first snuffs I got in bulk. A good “staple” snuff that can be used as a primary all day every day pinch. I opted for a drum of Plain, as I can always spice it up a bit with something else if needed
Dark brown and 10 years old and dry as a bone, but let Settle in nose and as good as I remember. I will use up and start with fresh.
