Gawith Apricot

This is one of my favourites. Like most Poschl snuffs, there is a fair amount of menthol - but the menthol isn’t overwhelming, allowing the delightful apricot scent to come through. It has great staying power, as the fruity aroma is still there for a long time after the initial sniffs. Being coarse and relatively moist, it’s easy to take, and gentle on the ol’ nozzle. Both newcomers and experienced snuffers have spoken highly of this great snuff, so if you’re interested in a fruity, menthol snuff which is long lasting, then I’m sure it will appeal to you. Gawith Apricot comes in a 10 gram tap box, which is black and has some sort of gothic style lettering which looks quite elegant.

It baffles me that this snuff gets so many good reviews. I think its omnipresence in the world has more to do with its continued popularity than its quality does. The menthol is way too much. The apricot flavor is practially non existant. It has a subtle fruityness to it, but its hard to distinguish it as apricot. The paraffin content, which gives it its moisture is also unpleasant. That combined with the menthol gives me a nasty throat drip that leaves me hacking for many minutes after snuffing it. Most Pöschl snuffs do this to me, but this one is the worst. Why is the Gawith name attached, you ask? This and Gawith Cola are presumably recipes belonging to Gawith Hoggarth of Kendal which is forbidden by British law from making oil based snuffs. Apparantly they have partnered with Pöschl for manufacture and distribution. I’ll struggle through the tin I have, but I won’t get this again. I fear too many people have been introduced to snuff and immediately turned off of it because of this one. Rating: 0/5 Style: modern German menthol/flavored Grind: demigros Moisture: medium-high, oil moistened

I don’t like it as much as I used to, but most of the people I’ve turned on to snuff were introduced by this one. The menthol isn’t ridiculous, but it is too much for my taste. It does subside to leave that fruity aroma nicely nonetheless. I don’t know why all my friends like menthol snuffs so much, maybe because they don’t snuff all day like me. I once had it as a big part of my daily rotation, but now I find it better as an occasional treat. I think most poschi snuffs hit the younger less experienced market more than long time snuffers. I haven’t outgrown them and that might not necessarily be true but they aren’t more than a few pinches of my daily rotation.

Poschl Gawith Apricot belongs to my favorites…I CAN detect apricot scent there…I think it is quite pronounced…Good balanced snuff…for me all day (all night) fav, I have those black plastic boxes in all my pockets…
