Note:With all the forum swapping, I’ve been carrying this across to each new forum. If you’ve requested snuff, I have it saved so no need to resubmit it, anything requested on the Proboards forum is saved.

Below is the original description.

I’m making some small batches of snuff, from tobacco grown here in Michigan, flavored (scented, cased what ever you would like to refer to it
as) with natural tinctures/extracts/essential oils from locally as well. I’m by no means a professional, just a hobbyist with some good,
naturally grown tobacco, so please remember to hold it to that standard. I don’t make this snuff as a “1 fits all” recipe, I have fine tuned it to my
nose, to what I find pleasant and enjoyable. All donations received, will be partially donated to the administrators of
the snuffhouse website(s) to help keep this website up and running, as is true, running a website is not free, and is almost a full time job in of it’s
self.

I will give you some teasers of the few different kinds I plan on making, they will be part of my Sherlock Holmes Genre and are artisan made in
small batches, so quantities are limited. They will be available in 5 gram amounts (pouch) and 10 gram amounts (tins) and will come with what I
call a “sensory note”, a small slip of paper that I would like the users to read, to get in the mind set of what I was aiming towards when I created
these blends. A small self-authored article and a small thumbnail photo of one of the best Sherlock Holmes illustrators (Sydney Paget). Prices
are yet to be established, but I foresee the 5 gram amounts being $4 and the 10 gram amounts being $9.

SHIPPING NOTE: US ONLY
The Teasers:

Holmes’ Office
The scent and vision one experiences upon entering the office and home
of Mr.Sherlock Holmes. Though not overpowering, a strong hint of liquor
for Mr.Holmes recent indulgence in said beverage, the empty glass
sitting upon the beech mantle, with the smoldering coals of the fire
place. Mr.Holmes is sitting in his leather chair, with his unlit pipe in
hand, while he obsesses over his latest case. The case of the…

The Cursed Mire
The scent of the cursed mire. Sherlock Holmes notices a distinct aura
coming from the Mire. Not unpleasant, but a definitive smell of the
surrounding lowlands immediately awakens Holmes’ senses as to what
this case, the case of Sir Henry Baskerville, will entail. Upon walking
into a rather lowland upon the mire, Sherlock’s boots sink into the peat
and release a slight ooze of water from beneath him, this announced his
presence. A gentle step to the thicker grass ceased the sound, yet a
distance behind him the sounds continued. Sherlock crouched and turned
around to discover someone…or something following him…

The Queen’s Botanical
Alas, a case that seems almost dismal for the extreme talents of the
esteemed detective. While there are murders, conspirators and extremists
amongst the citizens of London, the queen has requested, rather, insisted
upon the efforts of Mr.Holmes in harnessing facts on what has happened
to the beloved electric blue orchids recovered from the tropics of Africa.
Mr.Holmes wanders upon the gardens which cover acres and acres. The
Queens Guard has eradicated all the workers from the garden and have
been posted upon the border to restrict onlookers.
Holmes discovers a small pile of ash, perhaps a cigarette butt. Upon
reading the remains “Murmons of New York” is apparent. A sound in the
distance, digging, perhaps a pick axe, a shovel? Holmes slowly walks
towards the trellis in the distance, upon the trail a fresh blood pool, not
yet dried, and still slightly red, rich with oxygen. A loud click, one of a
handgun being chambered most likely, erupts in the near distance,
Sherlock reaches for his pistol, but remembers it to be held by the guards
at the gates…

Hopefully these teasers have enticed you folks and will make you want
to sample the snuff. If you folks have questions, comments etc feel free
to comment.
I look for these to be released within a month or so

M

Got a sample 5 gm packet of Holmes’ Office this morning. First pinch reveals a subtle cherry infusing the medium-brown fine-ground leaf. Too early to give a more solid review but all in all quite decent and recommended.

M

Thanks mouse, I appreciate the review!

We made a small website with further descriptions if anyone is interested.

http://gadsdenmill.wix.com/ourmill

M

Can a moderator move this to the members only section by any chance?

Also:

The Cursed Mire and The Queens Botanical are on hold until I can get some stuff figured out. If you’re interested in ordering some other varieties feel free to. I apologize for the inconvinience

H

Nice to see another artisan snuff maker. Definitely an art that should not be lost.

M

I’ve got a few batches ready to go of our classic; Wild Oak Butterscotch available. $7.00 donation for a $10 gr tin. $7.00

T

I can attest to the very easy arrangements made by Michibacy in the donation process. =D>

C

Congratulations!!  Very nice website and true artisan products.

Put me down for a few of the 10gr tins of Wild Oak Butterscotch.

Best of luck.

Cheers

M

Thanks Dan! I appreciate it! It means a lot to me coming from another curator such as yourself. I PMd you with information. Cheers!

B

Love the website, must get an order in soon!!

M

Thanks Ben, I look forward to the order!

M

Tuscan SP is ready to ship.
$7 donation for 10 gram tin

D

Got mine yesterday. One tin sp, one tin Holmes, two tins butterscotch. All very good. So far I have to say my favorite is the butterscotch. Kinda thought that would be the case hence the double tins . Shipped pretty quick to, no complaints here.

M

Just an update, we’re working on building two new mills on the farm. one for tobacco and another for corn, beans and wheat for feeding the livestock. It’s taken up a lot of our time, as well as cutting lumber for this winter, working on barns (insurance and mortgage bull crap) and busy raising the family.

Autumn is definitely a busy season!

We are no longer offering the bagged form mentioned above (effective 10/1), too many issues with packaging, moisture retention and labeling, sorry folks.

-Michibacy

M

I have no idea where the last month went! I apologize for my delays in getting back to you folks!

I plan to be running batches instead of on demand formulations. Right now I still have Tuscan SP, Holmes and Wild Oak Butterscotch left over if wanted.

M

I’m planning on bringing back the 5 gram snuff size in convenient tube instead of the previous pouch design, as is with any snuff I wouldn’t suggest carrying it in your pocket because the lid can come off. Haven’t scored a lead on self dispensing smash packs yet. I am working on some all natural non scented varieties as well as a vintage line if there is any interest

S

I. Am. So. There! (fellow Michigander here)

S

I always carry in my pocket! So this is where you’ve been, nice to see ya man.

H

Lmk If I can order some of you wild oak Butterscotch.

M

@slobandtom nice to see another Michiganian! (Sorry had to!) @snuffsahoy how’s it going? @Hawaiian_Ryan I’ll make another batch soon and post here when ready, are you in fact located in Hawaii?

M

New tube containers came in today, look like they’ll work fantastically. Call me odd, but lipbalm tubes work perfectly and hold just the right amount.

I’m working on a introductory scent labeled: Bowditch’s Lament
Context: Scents commonly used in all kinds of products specifically geared to sailors. In my youth I read (many times over) the classical novel “Carry on, Mr.Bowditch”, though snuff wasn’t mentioned, I’m gearing this snuff towards the cold weather months when your body needs a nice relaxing supplement.
Scents: Eucalyptus with a cool menthol over tone, anise seed extract and a warming nutty scent.
Feel: fine grind, medium moisture. Best when chilled, and freshly warmed on the hand prior to sniffing.

O

Any plans to start mailing to the UK?

M

As of now, not yet, quite a lot of red tape for being on a donation basis.

M

Shipping Update: Due to increase in rates, $5.49 cents for quantity (3) or less tins, or quantity (10) tubes. Price still stand for the tins/pouches (now tubes)

H

Yup I’m from Hawaii(Oahu)Alohas :-c

S

I’ve lived here just about 10 years.

M

Sorry for the late delay folks. I should be back in the shop tomorrow to finish up some orders and get some more stock ready.

My apologies on the long delay, family matters has taken up most of my time as of late.

I am happy however to announce a limited edition snuff I’m producing 6 tins of and it should be available the first part of the January.

The Black Spot:
A special snuff designed after a tale from the ships sailing the East Indies in  the late 1700’s. Word is - after a ship carrying a a 1/4 hogshead of a  strange ground flour; brown in color (what we believe to be tobacco) crashed into a coral reef, the sailors were instructed to remove items from the cargo hold to lessen the weight of the ship, so that at high tide the ship might become dislodged and be free to sail again. Upon emptying the cargo hold, the shipmate discovered the tops of the hogsheads had become loosened, and different spices and flours has become mixed together. The sailors collected what they could, repackaged it and tossed it aside onto the nearby island reef. Months later, a group of marauders discovered the reclaimed stash and labeled it with a large black splotch of ink, figuring it to be gunpowder. Upon opening the hogshead, they discovered the pacific aged spiced flour and began to consume this powder and it brought upon them good feeling.

  • Fast forward to the 21st century and we’ve recreated to the best of our abilities, the snuff before-mentioned. We are doing a special run on this as it’s very difficult (and thus expensive) to get the needed ingredients. It’s a time consuming process mimicking the aging process here in the upper midwest but we’ve mastered it, carefully.

Donation price will be $12.00 (standard shipping applies) and includes a special gift along with the snuff.

M

Pretty new to snuff, and I live in Michigan can’t wait to try your snuffs!

J

Holmes’ Office is really nice. Delicate but enticing scent. Nice grind too!

M

Updates on our menu:
I’m being time crunched to the max, so I’ve had to switch to Batch/Seasonal productions. I’ll come up with a more set schedule and post it here.

For more information on our current menu, visit http://gadsdenmill.wixsite.com/ourmill/varieties-and-menu. In Production is in stock, in production - pre order is being worked on, Discontinued is no longer available, Discontinued - in vault is not in production, but might show back up and In Formulation is not yet available.

A note on a new blend in lieu of a sad recent event:

As an honor to Chef Daniel, Gadsden Snuff Mill is opening back up. I’ve decided it will need to be a seasonally open organization as I prefer to use only homegrown tobacco, and it takes a decent amount of time to completely cure all the tobacco I’m using. All items will be limited, some may be brought back, some may go into the vault for ever, who knows?

In memorial of the Great Chef’s passing, I’ll be releasing a blend I’m collaborating on with a colleague labeled CDR-RB or Chef Daniel Richard - Royal Blend.

It will be a Royal Toast (to coin a term; the absolute highest quality ingredients possible, Orinico Burley 60%, Pennsylvania Red 40%, Roasted Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Toasted Hickory), fine grind. It’s a limited edition snuff, so if you would like to order some, please do so.

$10 for 10grams, and $2.00 shipping

I am taking preorders, just message them to me. I look for this snuff to be done in a few weeks.

Cheers Folks, and here’s to the Great Chef.

The black spot just came off the line as it were, it’s…fantastic, not to boast naturally. It’s probably the strongest variety I’ve made yet with a lot of aged burley in it. The “gift” included is nothing special, more of a novelty, but are snuff nails that are hand shaped by yours truly. I’ve never used a snuff tool before now, but these snuff nails are fantastic for keeping the hands and shirt clean.

T

Just sent you a message via your website. Certainly interested in obtaining some of this fine looking snuff!

Thanks!

TShaq

M

Thanks @TShaq, just sent a response.

And thank you for the compliment!

M

As of 5pm EDT I’ll be maxed out for a little while, I’ve had a huge influx of donators (I am very greatful of!) But will only be able to supply the donations I’ve taken to this point.

I’ll post an update once I have more available!

Thank you folks!

M

Good afternoon friends, this batch had been finalized and has been sent out, I foresee next month having another batch, I’ll let you folks know, thank you all!

H

Yo man I’m interested in those snuffs.keep me posted when it’s available.I appreciate it.Thanks and Aloha :-c

T

Well my birthday is in January so…

T

Package received! What a great start to my Saturday. About to dig in!

J

Chef Daniel Richard Royal Blend- A great salute to the Master. I’m sure he would have approved and indulged in this One. The Leather The Nuttiness The Woodiness Damn good Snuff!!! Thank you so much @Michibacy

J

Gadsden Snuff Mill The Black Spot- Slightly moist, sweet aroma but not sugary. Complex flavor. Will need to do some more right now

T

@jmahes, i totally agree with the Chef Daniel Richard Royal Blend. was very impressed. the wild oak butterscotch was fantastic as well. waiting to open my Black Spot. actually, i can’t hold back (reaches for the black spot and takes a big pinch). complex as you said. will need to spend more time with it, but still great off the bat! Should have grabbed more CDR-RB!

TShaq

J

@TSaq, I hope @Michbacy can offer bulk amounts. I would but hundred grams of these easily

M

Glad you folks like the blends. I am also ecstatic about the response on the CDR-RB, not having a huge amount of experience with Toasts I wasn’t sure if it’d meet your expectations. Cheers friends

B

Anyone want to send me a gram of these new snuffs ?

J

Yep!

H

I can’t wait till the next batch is ready.I really want to get some.Like I said please keep me posted @Michibacy I greatly appreciate it.

P

I need to look and see what you have. I wanted to try some of the cdr-rb, but didn’t get a chance to put in for some.

M

I’m going to do another small run of CDR-RB, If anyone is interested.

I can do semi-bulk (up to 50 grams), tubes (5 gram) or standard 10 gram tins.

I’ll post pricing and availability once it’s ready!

T

@Michibacy, keep me posted on the CDR-RB!

J

@Michbacy, semi bulk sounds awesome

P

@michibacy, I’d be down for some.

I

@michibacy, I missed this the first time around but would definitely like to get a hold of it.

T

@Michibacy, Is it ready yet?

S

Add me to the interested list!  I missed out on CDR-RB so I’ll be looking to pick that one up at the very least.

M

I just pulled some “out of the toaster” and am letting it age in the cask, another week or so and it should be ready. I’ll have about 150 grams prepared.

M

Effective immediately, all snuff production is on hold. I’ve had quite a few shipping issues, local post has lost many packages repeatedly. Also reformulating my grind pattern, I’ve caught a lot of negative feedback and am trying to weed through it before sending out more snuff. Those of you who didn’t receive a package or follow up package please message me and I’ll get it sorted out immediately. One rebuttal I’d like to make is the accusation that I use over the counter tobacco, this is farthest from the truth. I labor over my home grown tobacco, it is grown in a northern climate so naturally it is different than western or southern grown tobacco, I never use sub par ingredients and never will. I’m working on these issues and will be back in force. Thank you folks, and this isn’t good bye!

H

Lmk when everything is all right/good I’ve been ready for my order(s) Peace and Alohas, Hawaiian_Ryan

H

Just make it 20grams each so it would be CDR-RB 20gram and The Black Spot 20gram I hope u can make this change please.

M

Hey Ryan, I’ll be glad to make the change once the operation isn’t on hold. We need to resolve some of these problems before continuing. Thanks as always!

M

I offer this in request that anyone’s responses are respectful if possible:

Community question of the day: do you have any issues with my mill? Any at all, blends, flavors, grind consistency, shipping cost, shipping duration, payment etc?

I’m revamping as noted before and would love input, thank you folks and have a blessed day!

J

@Michibacy,
I’ve purchased snuff from you a couple of times.
packaging was fine
snuff was great
paypal is my preferred mode of payment, so that’s good
flavors are interesting
grinds were fine and that’s fine with me
shipping was a few days
only had great experiences with Gadsden Snuff

J

oh , almost forgot, pricing and shipping cost were not expensive, no problem here

H

I have No problem here with your product(snuff).I guess everybody has their own opinion.I saw the review by uncle Squinty.

M

I don’t take it personally, and I asked him to be brutal as need be, helpful criticism is always welcomed

C

I have not yet had the pleasure of trying your snuff.  However, as a fellow small batch maker, I know what goes into the process.  Making the sauce just right, getting toasting times and temps down, playing with the grind and moisture content.  Then, after it’s done, it can turn into something completely different after a month jarred up.  Many people have told me my snuffs are great while others have either politely not replied or said it was “ok”.  As you said, honest feedback and criticism are among the most helpful when it comes to improving.

Keep up the good fight and long live snuff!  :)

M

I appreciate the commendation @Cobguy!

As an update, I believe I finished the rotary screen. I need to test it out this evening but I believe it’ll work well enough. I’ve opted for a 250 micron screen, and have capacity for 14 fluid ounces. It’s a good portable bench top design that I can control with a standard dimmer switch.

I couldn’t for the life of me find a forged 10-32 machine screw for the shaft-to-shaft coupler so I had to get one from the local hardware this morning.

Now onto fixing other issues!

N

Kinda been awhile with no word. I hope you are making progress.

J

I hope so, too. I would like to try some of the snuffs.

T

Pleeeeeeasseee have some of this left

M

Hi folks,

@Tekno , @JosephJames@nicmizer , I’m working on starting production again, it’s been a busy year but will definitely post soon with in stock items.

N

Varieties List Starting in 2018

I’m working on starting up production for 2018 after about a year hiatus. I’ll only be making select amounts of the varieties listed (those will be listed soon) and once I’m sold out, I’ll be sold out until I work in a new production schedule. As a sidenote, I’ve reworked some of my milling process which in turn is giving me a much more consistent product and hopefully a more enjoyable product for all of you. As always, only the highest quality ingredients will be going into my mixes. Only available in 10gram tins with simplistic labeling, sealed with vinyl tape for freshness. We will be taking pre-orders.

To review our more up to date list, please visit our Wix website, where you can also view the varieties that are in our vault. http://gadsdenmill.wixsite.com/ourmill

Wild Oak Butterscotch     $10.00/10 gram container

Sweet, delicate, fresh butterscotch flavor in a slightly moist, fine grind. Reminiscent of Grand Mother’s cooking in early fall before helping harvest the crops. We would each receive a few drops of homemade butterscotch candy before going outside. We tied these memories and scents into our natural nasal snuff. (Now with stronger Butterscotch flavoring per request of users and reviewers)

Bowditch’s Lament     $10.00/10 gram container

This snuff is geared towards the cold weather months when your body needs a nice relaxing supplement.
Scents: Eucalyptus with a cool menthol over tone, anise seed extract and a warming nutty scent.
Feel: fine grind, medium moisture. Best when chilled, and freshly warmed on the hand prior to sniffing

M

Le Cafe Partisan     $10.00/10 gram container

Our first new batch in over a
year. A snuff celebrating the spirit of World War 2 French Partisans.
A silky fine grind, with the scent of fresh ground French Espresso,
the creamy aroma of almond baked pastries and the aura of a day gone
by in a small village on the river Rhine.

M

747 Scotch     $8.00/10 gram container

Our 747 Scotch snuff is a fine, dry smokey rich blend. Ground fine and double sifted. The tobacco bill is simple but stunning - a 90/10 Fire Cured Burley/Izmir. The Fire Cured gives you that traditional smokey richness, while the Izmir compliments with a subtle sweetness. Take sparingly.

S

Just dug into the 747. I gotta say I just love this snuff. It reminds me of sitting in front of a fireplace (the fire made with really good wood like maybe birch). Also getting hints of fresh cut wood. The richness is there as advertised. I’m far from being an expert, but for what it’s worth: bravo, Michibacy!

M

Thanks for the review! I really appreciate it and am glad you enjoy it!

M

Also @SammyD13, what would you say on a scale 1-10 the nic content is? I like other people to gauge it as I can be rather nicotine resistant at times and quite susceptible at others

S

@Michibacy I’m pretty jaded nicotine-wise but felt wide-awake after snuffing the 747. I’d give it an 8.

E

The 747 is, indeed, very good!

S

The Wild Oak Butterscotch is very nice. It seems to pack a hit, too.

N

@SammyD13 how old is your stock of wild oak butterscotch. What I have is very bland, very unrefined ( stems and chunks) and dried with not really any moisture to it. I’ve carefully cared for it but got in a trade over a year ago and wounding if it’s lost something before I acquired it.

M

@Nicmizer, if you got it over a year ago that was made under my old procedure and was self admittedly lacking. Any batches from 2018 and forward are made using my new procedure and is quite different.

S

@nicmizer I just started snuffing the new batch of Wild Oak Butterscotch and can’t keep away from it. Easy to snuff and the butterscotch is spot-on.

N

Sub par products that are admittedly that should honour being replaced with what was to be proclaimed. I’m stuck now with 4 full unopened tins and another that’s 98% full that I will never use as it’s not what it’s described as being. Maybe @Michibacy can make right for reasonable customer service in the future.

M

@nizmizer Private messaging you sir. I intend to make it right!

@SammyD13 thanks for the support and the reinforcement is much appreciated. I’m going to have a long road ahead of me showing folks the new formulas over the old ones

J

I have tried only a couple of the first generation Gadsden Mill snuff and was very happy with them. I have not tried Wild Oak Butterscotch so can’t really comment on that but, the new 747 Scotch and Le Cafe Partisan are very well done. In fact I think Cafe Partisan will surprise a lot of people with its quality and deliciousness. whether you have an idea of Gadsden Mill or not.

R

So how do I order some of the stuff if you’re still making it I feel stupid for asking but I would like to try some of it thank you

M

Hi @Remjob, if you’d like to order some please feel free to email me at gadsdenmill@gmail.com. Thank you and sorry for the delay!

A

@Michibacy produces some very fine snuffs with equally as impressive delivery times! Thank you for keeping up the art form

E

Whatever happened to this maker? His site is blank. I loved his 747 snuff.

S

They attracted the attention of government employees who were too lazy to hunt real culprits. Same deal as OSP but I understand it was not quite as dramatic. It was really a shame in both cases. If you make snuff in the USA, put a price on it, and have a web site or blog devoted it it, you will be a target. It makes no difference what kind of profit is actually being made. OSP lost money. @hitsuzen did it for the love of snuff and the feds destroyed OSP and probably scared the hell out if his family. Zero sense of proportion here. The cigarette companies can make billions but a small snuffshop would need lawyers and millions to even have a small chance of selling it legally- even if no profits were made.

C

This is why I stay WAY under the radar and, pretty much, stopped selling.

Also, as a part-time, small batch maker, I’d need to charge much more than I ever did to profit.

It’s still fun and I still make snuff but no longer put it out there as much.

If you see me post something you’d like to try, just PM me!

~Darin

R

@cobguy you probably already do but I’d still practice discretion on who you send snuff to, no one without a history on this site, etc… I’d wager money I don’t have that this site is being monitored.

C

Agreed @rostanf, it’s always been folks that I’ve had plenty of contact with from here or other forums.

V

Infiltration is quite a common practice as well. This reminds me of one pot growing dedicated forum in my country, where some of the mods were blackmailed by cops and turned into their puppets. They even set up a fake seed store… Many arrests followed.

In no way am I referring to any particular member of this forum. Just concur with @rostanf on extra discretion.
