Curious about these two new snuffs; Rockit and especially FUBAR. Has anyone tried these yet? Is FUBAR the Rooster-killer it’s claimed to be? I was considering making another pre-Xmas purchase but also wanted to try some Checkerberry, now that I know it’s Wintergreen.
Are you serious about FUBAR?? F–ked Up Beyond All (Any) Repair or F–ked Up Beyond Any Recognition
That’s the name! Whether or not it’s a Rooster killer remains to been seen. Should have it in stock by the end of the week. (Checkerberry by tomorrow or wed.) Tom
who makes these?
Yes i’d like to know as well from what i understand dohlakia makes them as an american brand i could be wrong but i would like to know if its dohlakias’ (sorry i spelling is off) “idea” or if there just making it for and american company (outsourcing type of thing) not sure but some good clarification would be apreciated. I am glad to know however that there is interest in making new snuff brands. i would like to see some true blue american made english type (flavored) snuffs though, that would be amazing. Hmm maybe i need to start building a new pole building… could make an excelent addition to my farm. I can see it now Olds brand american snuff. (Olds is my last name) Snuff made the Olds fashioned way.
Yeah, I suspect the so called ‘jaxons’ is also a Dholakia or similar, if you google Jaxons you don’t come up with much - all big business bullshit as far as I can see.
And they refuse to sell to me, but if it’s lousy anyway… Tom
Jaxons is not a Dholakia product. You can read about it on this link. Jaxons
I am still a newbie but I have tried Dholakia and McChrystals. I must admit that I am curious about Rockit and FUBAR. What are they like and where can I buy these?
Jaxons Cafe Cream is a delicious snuff, I love it.
Get around to the other two FUBAR’s yet Mr Snuff? The one is rum flavored I gather but no mention of flavor for the R&R, unless I just totally missed it.
They sound good so will probably order in the near future, who is producing these? Also, who makes the Rockit brand?
I’ve been thinking about ordering from Nicotinerush for my next order. I’ve been wanting to try the Checkerberry, and Rooster. This just gives me all the more reason to put in an order. Lately it seems, there are more and more new snuffs all the time. Maybe this stuff is actually starting to catch on again.
Let’s hope so! Tom
Thanks Mr Snuff, they sound delicious and a new word to boot! They actually all sound tempting, especially the Grunt and Medic, as you indicate it’s a stronger spin on O&G.
Is the Rockit brand going to be closer to a Poschl then, more a moist beginner snuff or are they gonna be XX-high N too? I guess there’s no reason they couldn’t be both, eh?
Got my order of the FUBAR and Rockit! lines today. I tried each just once apiece thus far so this post will contain my initial reactions, basically a very raw type of review. If things change after prolonged use I will update my reviews. FUBAR - Shot of rum - This snuff is very light in color and has a very fine grind to it. It does smell very much like a shot of rum but their is something very sweet about this snuff almost making it settle in with a scent very similar to a piece of butterscotch candy. I think I like this snuff as an occasional treat…I’ll rate this a 4 (something I need to keep on hand due to it’s uniqueness and something I will often crave) FUBAR - Medic - This snuff is also very light in color and has a particularly fine grind to it. To me this smells just like Wilson’s SM500 or Toque Menthol. It has that lemony scent to it which I feel is very similar to those I mentioned. I would not consider this snuff to have any resemblence to that of McChrystal’s O & G whatsoever. Not a bad menthol snuff though by any means, just not to different from what is already on the market…I’ll rate this a 3 (a solid snuff but not a must have on hand at all times type) FUBAR - RnR - Light in color and very fine in grind once again. To my surprise this snuff was not nearly as sweet as the Shot of Rum. But this snuff is quite fruity. The menthol seems very light especially when compared to the other apricot snuff I have tried which is Gawith Apricot. My initial reaction to this snuff is that I sense a touch of sandalwood in it lingering in the background while the Apricot flavor is strong and in the front. I’m not the biggest fan of Apricot, but this snuff has something to it that makes it somewhat desireable to me…I’ll rate this a 3 I’ll rate this a 3 (a solid snuff but not a must have on hand at all times type) FUBAR - Grunt - Light in color and very fine in grind. This snuff has a very nice scent to it which for me smells like coconut. I doubt highly that this snuff intended to have a coconut flavor to it but for me it is definately there. My guess would be that the blend of tobaccos just ends up having a coconutty type flavor. I like this snuff quite a bit the flavor is unique to anything I have tried and it definately seems to have a nice nicotine kick to it, though I must admit after so many years of dipping my tolerance to tobacco is quite high and the only way I can judge a tobacco products nicotine strength is to go by how it solves my craving for more. With this snuff I definately feel like any urge for more nicotine is gone for a little bit… I’ll rate this a 5 (A snuff that will immediately join my everyday rotation) Rockit! - Naked - Darker in color and not quite as fine as the FUBAR line of snuffs. Now this is a plain flavored snuff. The closest thing I could compare it to is Toque Natural. I can’t seem to pick up any particular scents with this one, but with a name like naked I guess for this snuff it is mission accomplished. I can see this being a great snuff to be used by those who like to mix and create their own flavors, not my thing though… I’ll rate this a 2 (Not something I think I would order again) Rockit! - Ice Cool - Darker in color and also not as fine as the FUBAR snuff. Now here is one that bears a very slight resemblence to McChrystal’s O&G. Only lighter in my opionion. This seems like a perfect snuff for somebody who wants a shot of menthol but wants it toned down when compared to the many other menthols out on the market. I think this one is a winner that will definately sell well. The only other plain menthol flavored snuff I have tried on the market that is this light on the menthol is Dhalokia Sparrow Blue…I’ll rate this a 4 (something I need to keep on hand due to it’s uniqueness and something I will often crave) Rockit! - Cherry Pop - Darker and also not as fine as the FUBAR line with a nice sweet cherry flavor and a light touch of menthol. This one smells much like the Dholakia She snuff with the only difference I suspect being that this one may have a touch more nicotine in it. Personally I rather enjoy the cherry flavor of She every now and then and suspect I will enjoy this snuff much the same…I’ll rate this a 3 I’ll rate this a 3 (a solid snuff but not a must have on hand at all times type) All in all I must say that although these two lines of snuff may have very strange names and may not appeal to the traditional snuff takers out there, they are indeed very serious snuffs. I would suggest that if you are put off by the names that you go ahead and take a chance and look past the names or you will miss out on some very well made snuffs that just might turn out to be a favorite.
Thanks for the great reviews Daniel. I will certainly try these based on your findings. Stay safe out there.
They all sound pretty good in my opinion ill have to try them eventually. Just one question as they are an “american” brand i believe but they are made by dholakia are they at least made with american tobacco? (not that im against using other countrys products im just sort of national debt aware i guess and am making an effort to try and find more things “made in USA” or at least containing made in USA ingedients.)
i second that bigblue maybe corn too but even with tobacco and corn it dosnt necesarily come from the USA as im sure you know alot of specialized (at least from what ive read on the net) snuff tobacco comes from Arfrica and India.
“I’m no expert… I’ll defer to stitch, and snuffgrinder, roderick, and Namrata on the subject. But I believe most of the tobacco we put up are nose is grown in the U.S.” I really hope your right but i thought i read differently. i too will wait anxiously for some confirmation from a more qualified person (preferably someone in the snuff buisiness.)
Well we don’t grow any in the UK so I have no option but I go British whenever I can too, at least we manufacture a lot, and I’m gonna help your economy today by ordering some Fubar and Rockit.
After spending most of the night with the FUBAR - Grunt in my nose, I am now more convinced then ever that this snuff does indeed have the scent of coconut in it. Don’t know why but its in there and it has a really laid back tone to it which goes very well as a snuff.
Any updates on my american tobacco question anybody?
Just ordered the Fubar deal plus a bullet of Rockit, doubt I’ll see it before Christmas though.
I guess we would need Roderick for a definitive answer on this, I thought US, Asian and African were all used in equal measure depending on the snuff type being made.
thanks farley thats kind of what i thought.
I think it would be a great idea, in a business sense, if an American Snuff company, made a line of specificially called “Nasal Snuffs”, that are created with flavors, menthols, moistness, that the imported nasal snuffs are. I personally find the non-American nasal snuffs to be much more enjoyable for nasal use than the fine dry American Scotch snuffs. I wonder if any American snuff maker has considered this new line of approach? With all the so many Scotches, I guess they must sell well enough, but I still think these are produced with the idea of oral usage. Tom502
I’'m sure that many of us wish that an American company would start making snuff specifically for nasal use. I personally would be ecstatic to see one emerge. Who knows…with all of these new taxes on smoking tobacco and the likes, we might just see this. We can only wait… ~Snuffy
@tom502: I know that some of the market “come out of the woodwork” every few months and buy cases of mainly the Garrett Sweet. This was according to my local smokeshops. Maybe our sellers to the left have that market now. But I bring this up because I think the main market for American snuff, other than the savvy bloggers of Snuffhouse, could really care less about Pudding this or Spanish-something that.
I do think, if CC or US, introduced a new menthol nasal snuff, and labeled it as such, I think would sell, once it became known. It should also have little instructions on it like the Jaxons tins; 1)Open the lid 2)tap out some snuff 3)put under the nostril 4)SNIFF. Tom502
Some sort of informative advertising campaign would be necessary, kind of like what Camel did with their (awful) snus line. I don’t know how many people have said to me, despite seeing me snort the stuff in front of them, “But aren’t you supposed to put snuff in your mouth?”
@ gilgawulf: tell them no! That’s why its called snuff, as in sniff, snort, sniffle, snuffle, snout, snoot, snchnoz, etc. Its not called “suckuff” and “spituff!”
I know this is an old thread, I know. Gives me a bit of perspective on the timeline in which FUBAR was developed. Which is extremely interesting from the perspective of a relative newbie and a diehard fan of FUBAR products.
