I was just Googling F & T (as you do on a slow day at work) and came across this pdf of an original promotional pamphlet from 1969. There seem to have been many more varieties then than there are now - and it’s interesting to find out that the Dr J R Justice blend was originally named Asthoroth - sounds very Aleister Crowley! I wonder if any of the more unfamiliar recipes still survive, or if there are any old tins out there… has anyone ever tried any of them? http://snufftalk.org/FT.pdf
You know what? I don’t like to call you toffeenose!! A lady should go by a sweeter name!! But, if that’s the name you prefer, who am I to argue with you. …Thank you VERY much for this link. Now I’m even more in a hurry to receive my first F&T snuffs. Regards Pieter
What have you ordered Pieter? You should be in for a treat especially with Bordeux or Princes. Morlaix and Dr JR Justice are good too. Stefan
It would be interesting to see how different the old snuffs tasted as compared to the same type today. A number of F&T snuffs used Cuban tobacco which has been replaced with Zimbabwean and other leafs - I dont know how much difference this makes, thought the cigar crowd would tell you that it makes a world of difference. Would be great to find a stash of well preserve old snuffs. Does any one know of a modern snuff that is made with Cuban tobacco?
I didnt know they made snus? I just had a Montechristo mini, a quick smoke, not bad though.
So they do, and Romeo and Julieta. Wonder if these companies will ever get into the snuff market.
You can get the Monte Christo and RyJ at Cuban Snus. Not only do they deliver at the same speed (about 7-10 days) as their Swedish competition but their prices on other snus’ are very competitive. Remember to click the British flag for English. edit: I mean to the US if that wasn’t clear.
Walrus 1985, I’ve ordered: HDT, Kendal Brown, Old Paris and Santo Domingo. As soon as it arrives, I will order some more. I must be careful, customs might grab my stuff and tax me. So I keep the orders small. What other F&T’s would you recommend?
I think I would recommend all the F&T snuffs!
Well Pieter, if you don’t like toffeenose, you may call me Debbie if you wish! As can anyone else. I would recommend the Morlaix - quite perfumed but very nice and ‘clean’ tasting. But I suppose being a lady I would like that one I think I’m going to do a Pokeman on F&T - gotta get them all! Bordeaux, Kendal and Seville first, I think…
I love all the F&T offerings with the possible exception of the Santo Domingo, i find it very salty and a bit too coarse for my pallet. Their HDT though is superb, pure velvet.
I’d recommend all the F&T snuffs Pieter especially Bordeux, they are all good. Stefan
Yeah the only F&T I don’t like is the J.R. Justice smells wonderfull but I have a terrible allergic reaction to it. Morlaix is awesome by the way. Smells very baby powderish but in a totaly plesant and awesome way. Asoroth or however it’s spelled definatly does sound like something you might evoke to give your enemies (i.e. neighbors) a nasty rash which they die from in three days and also to help you find a buried box of fish scented money or something like that.

Oh thanks, Farley - I hadn’t noticed that, although it’s been said that Dr JR Justice is supposed to resemble it. Isn’t there a ‘secret ingredient’ added to it rather than it being just a straight 50/50 blend?
Well Morlaix is all secret ingredients from what I’ve heard. Probably is another secret ingredient as it doesn’t really smell the same as Bordeaux and Morlaix mixed evenly at least to my nose.

The funny thing about F & T snuff is that it really isn’t for the beginner! Most people I know who have sniffed F & T (and never tried snuff before) recoil in horror and say it smells just like soap that an old lady would use! LOL
I can certainly see what they mean in regards to Morlaix, Bordeaux and Macouba at least, they’re very reminiscent of granny’s wardrobe. Santo Domingo and Old Paris though are very different - dark and smoky and salty, probably not too attractive to a newbie. Except me, but maybe I’m a freak…
I did not think that I would get enamored with an F&T snuff. I now love seville and can do it all day. I used a PCB yesterday. If I could give any advice to new snuffers it would be “don’t try F&T until you have been snuffing for a few months at least”.
