I notice some of you don’t hardly ever blow your noses, like just a couple of times a day. But with me I need to blow my nose within five minutes at the most of every snuff, or spend the rest of the day sucking snot into my throat; every pinch creates tons of mucus. With fine snuffs I can just blow my nose once but with coarser snuffs I have to blow my nose several times to stop being gunky. I don’t really care, I’m pretty used to it now, but it would be really nice to be able to take a pinch without having to expel snot into a hankie right after… am I missing something?
I find it varies from snuff to snuff. But I have not kept a record so I could not say off the top of my head which snuffs have which effect but I don’t think you are missing anything - we are all different and will react to snuffs in different ways.
Mostly happens for me too when I use a coarse grind.
Since I don’t use snuffs with menthol I do not have this problem.
I only have an issue with frequent blowing if I am using a menthol or a course snuff. If I am using a drier fine snuff I can go almost all day and never worry about it.
I only get this with a few snuffs and I normally just hock a loogie if the drip is nasty rather than blowing it out. If I am totally stopped up, I will do some bohica and blow out massive cob webs enough to soak a bounty paper towel. I know snuffer carry handkerchiefs I am not one of them, farmer’s blow or spit. tissues for a quick wipe, I rarely sneeze.
A big snuff hanky lasts me a day. A normal one (about 14" square) lasts about a half day. I’m not too bothered about it. I like the nose to stay clean for the next pinch.
With me it’s erratic. A change of flavour and grind is often enough of a trigger to get my juices flowing. Usually if I clear out at that point and start again with the new flavour, it’s less dramatic and will be in there long enough to “cook”
Also … pinching the nostrils closed to “bed in” the snuff I’ve just taken, seems to calm things down if my nose is “flushing”
It depends on which snuff you use. The snuffs that I like really get my juices flowing. I justify my snuff use with “It’s a GREAT decongestant that doesn’t interact with other medications.” On the other hand, some snuffs form a hard, dry “armor plate” in your nose. This is an excellant preventative for those who have severe hay fever.
Yeah for me it makes no difference if it’s Wos CoC or Dholakia White, I still have to blow my nose a lot. Guess it’s just my nose.
I very seldom have to “blow”, but I do favor using a Neti pot several times a day to keep things breathing smooth.
Yes, I have to blow my nose almost every time I snuff. At work i use Toque SP extra because it’s nearly the only snuff that doesn’t effect me that way. Fine or coarse, dry or moist, I’m reaching for the hankies on five minutes.
I hate it when I want to blow my nose for a good clean out and it’s to dry. . Discovered the nose (well mine) seems to have evolved to capture some of the water up the nose to clean it just by splashing water up onto the face over the sink but I have also developed the two pinky fingers up the nostrels extra scrub technique. Works very well or even saliva on a tissue and a good poke and rumage up there. But generally everything must be evacuated after 5 minutes or so ready for the next go as I change snuffs a lot or else just switch to vaping for a bit.
If I use really fine and dry snuffs I can normally go all day without blowing. I’ve been using WoS IHT for so long that anything that is courser or wetter makes my nose muddy. Toque quit for example; is so easy to take I take huge pinches and then I’m all stuffed up … Meh, what are you gonna do.
Hi @horus92! I can go without blowing my nose for a maximum of 3 nosefills of snuff but for the most of the time I blow my nose 10 minutes after having pinched. With coarse De Kralingse type snuffs I have a personal record of going 1 1/2 hour with the same stuffing up my snout without blowing and that is not bad!
