Free samples?

Does any manufacturer offer free samples these days, or is that completely forbidden (even though I’ve seen some local stores give out free samples for various tobacco products). After a small order of snuffs that almost made me want to quit snuff altogether, I’m becoming reluctant to order more than I can possibly take from a yucky snuff.

Simple answer is no.

@Skell18‌ as I feared and figured.

Free samples apparently attract people who apply for free samples of practically any product under the sun. But MrSnuff and Toque both do sampler packs, with small packages of multiple snuff types. Toque does a 10 for 9 10 gram packs, MS does bundles - although I always prefer to design my own bundle, theirs are good to check out for ideas.

How about a site adding a tiny like…1 gram bag to an order (a flavor of your choice), for you to try? Anything like that, or possible to negotiate with a manufacturer like that?

According to the Dutch tobacco law it is forbidden to give away tobacco products. But it doesn’t say how much a product should cost! Jaap Bes.

I think it might be easier just to splash three bucks and get 10 grams, but who knows? The worst that could happen is that customer service snickers to themselves and says no. Frankly, a gram of snuff is barely enough for a taste. Otherwise, find a real life snuff friend and offer your snuffbox and see what he offers you in return. In London there are a few bars that leave snuff on the table for people to try, give it a shot if you’re passing through.

Dunno anyone else than me using snuff IRL =(. Can you become my neighbour by any chance?

Next time you’re in Central Jakarta, drop me a line. I don’t go down south, traffic’s too bad.

Yeah I live…quite far away from that I believe.

It might be worth listing what you’ve tried so far, what you got in your order, what you didn’t like about them, what you might like to try and getting some suggestions of what to try next. people here are very good at that kind of thing.

Sad. When I was first getting into snuff which was only about 5 years ago, Toque, Dholakia, Pöschl, and de Kralingse all sent me free samples. Wilsons of Sharrow and McChrystals ceased this practice just prior to me getting interested. Now no one does, except perhaps you friendly Snuffhouse members.

On the odd occasion that a manufacturer has asked us to give away their product for free as samples we have done so quite happily, - typically on a first come first served basis. The last one was Oliver Twist; they gave us 1000 clik-claks to give out for free with any Oliver Twist order, which we did. The problem is even if we are not charged for the product itself we still pay all the ancillary costs (taxes, shipping, warehouse fees etc). The best people to give away samples of their products are the manufacturer’s themselves, though as has been noted most don’t do this any more, either for legal reasons or because 90% of the people asking for freebies will never be back. We are just a store and you will notice stores never give samples - it is always sponsored by the manufacturers or possibly distributors (though I suspect even then it originates with the manufacturer).

@MrSnuff ah, I know of oliver twist giving samples, simple people like me can just tell em “Im interested in trying your new flavors”, and theyll send you some. Ive used oliver twist since I was in high school. It tends to get boring, but the flavor brings back so many memories. And yeah, ive just about given up on snuff samples as it doesnt seem to exist and placed a decent order on snuff.me.uk. Do you send any out from UK MrSnuff? Shipping from the US is just insane, and after less than pleasant mails from mysmokingshop on a bad order, Im never using them again and require a new place to order from, I dont like changes and therefore stick to only one provider.

Thats a good idea, but I have a very strange range of what I prefer. I dont even know what I like so much about poschl, but everything ive tried from them is 10/10 to me… it just goes right up the nose and casts some charms on me from there… oh poschl

@Rogue we ship from the UK

I would chime in with a personal observation when it comes to Snuff. This is that it takes time and perhaps more quantity to truly decide if a snuff is right for you. Not sure tiny gram packages will allow you to appreciate the snuff as you would from perhaps a larger “sample”. Not to say that you should plonk down oodles of cash to build a sample rotation, but it may well be worth investing 50.00 or so to get a wide range of decent sized “samples”, knowing that there is good chance you could trade them off with fellow members here. I for one have just ordered a wide range of snuffs just today and opted for 25g tins so as to allow it to air out if needed and so I could revisit it several times, the latter being very important as I sometimes use a mix of snuffs during the day and find the combination of Gawith Apricot and Poschl’s Gletscher to be quite horrid. On their own and separated by an hour or so they are fine, but one right after the other not so.
