Frederick Tranter Snuffs

I have heard alot about these snuffs, yet I can find little to no trace of them on the web, not for sale, not what flavours they produce, nothing! I was hopings one of you chaps from the UK might enlighten me on the flavours they have available, and recomendations. If anyone knows where to get this snuff please let me know. Lastly if all else fails maybe one of you would be kind enough to mail me some, I providing the funds ofcourse.

House brand for Cigar ConnoiseurLike most UK tobacconists they won’t do USA credit cards, I tried. You could write them and ask for alternate payment methods.

The tins and labels do look suspiciously like WoS

That’s not a coincidence, lol. Its one of several WoS contract brands. They do have some unique blends available though. Maybe six months or so I can get an order from them. Right now I have too much snuff.

The sad news is it looks like they don’t do the dry snuff now. No No 20 Irish H.D. Toast or No22 Irish High Toast.

A shop in both Oxford and Bath. Anyone live nearby?

I don’t live particularly close by but I visited the Oxford shop a year or so back. The snuff stock levels were pretty low but they were quite cheap (£2.25 an ounce) so I picked up a few tins and a couple of nice snuff handkerchiefs. Their Country Doctor is delicious - aniseed and eucalyptus flavour but markedly different from the Wilson’s version as it has much less eucalyptus in.

Ok then, 2 more stops to put on my British snuff tour. I’m sure there’s nothing else worth seeing in Oxford or Bath, so they will be quick stops. ;-D

Hehe, I’d love to do a snuff tour…roaring across England in a snarling old 4.5-litre W.O. Bentley, stopping to try every snuff I can get my nose into. Come to think of it, it’d be a mashup between Snuffhouse and Top Gear; we could call it Top Mill. Instead of The Stig, we’d have The Sniff, and he’d wear a yellow racing suit with a Toque helmet…

Country Doctor is a snuff I have in bulk. It is not had any for ages. I’m just off to fill my spare box. Stefan

I think Dave and Tom are going to try and get some once the move is complete

@Snuff Head: I contacted Tranters and they informed me that the two toasts are still available. They were deleted from the website by mistake and are being added again shortly.

Im looking forward to when they are available from NR and Mr.Snuff. I think Ill hold off and try to get my massive snuff collection slightly depleted before ordering more

@ BradMajors, many thanks for the info.

The Roman baths certainly come second after a snuff shop Xander, lol. Actually, if anyone was planning a Bath trip just for the shop its about the size of a news kiosk. I once made a very long detour to visit it, as BradMajors says Mr Tranter didn’t have much stock in.

Yes, Nigel, I was being a bit sarcastic. The Roman bath would no doubt be the highlight and the stop at FT would be a side stop. Now looking at google maps, Bath might be too out of the way for starting in London and working my way north all the way to Berwick. Especially if you tell me its just a kiosk. Then again, so is Mullins and Westly and that’s a “must visit”. The trip is still only in conceptual stage ATM of course. Goodness knows when I’ll have enough time and money to do it. I see a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. So a stop in The St. John’s and then a side trip to visit Jaap’s windmills and back again before continuing north? Does anybody know how much the ferry fare is?

Sounds like a planhttp://www.poferries.com/ will give you a quote on the Hull-Rotterdam ferry.

If your trip gets off the drawing board, I’m sure we can find you the odd London guide or two!

Thanks, guys.
